The Watchtower-class outpost is a small independent military station, designed to support naval operations.
The outpost is a purpose-built military installation designed for the storage of a considerable amount of general supplies and heavy ordnance. It can be efficiently operated by a relatively small crew and comfortably house the crews of several small warships. The station is heavily armored but only lightly armed with short-range weaponry.
The Watchtower-class is a crucial strategic asset to UFSN fleet groups operating at the fringes of Union space. These outposts are frequently stationed in proximity to valuable Navy assets. However, they are also regularly deployed in remote regions, where they serve as bases for anti-piracy and border defense missions.
