Description
Hmm, you were right, it does look nicer in brown.Should I replace the original deviation with this? Please let me know!
My take on ~Celeun 's Tree Lions.
They are gliders, like flying squirrels! And they can use their teeth to pull the bark from trees to catch insects. They're also not very big, so that works well for them.
Tried not to give it a small cat's bodybuild on purpose but keep it resembling larger felids.
They have no fixed color scheme yet so I made something up. I figured an arboreal cat would have a spotted coat. I like gray cats, so I originally picked that color as base. I wondered if I should make the areas inside the spots white, but that would make the animal very obvious. ^^ I'm afraid I made the Tree Lion's coat too unspectacular but I'm not good at designing patterns.
Heh. But anyway, this was fun to make and took me three days.
Tree Lions still belong to

Oh, apparently we should comment when we favourite... eep! Well, we've watched your gallery for a few years now, we adore your art and your style, we're just very shy.
Regarding this piece in particular, we love the colours and markings, and the way you make the fur look so real - especially that raggedy tail-tip, it's so cute! The anatomy is fascinating and really well-done, you have a talent for making unusual/fantasy creatures look completely believable. We find this piece inspiring, it has influenced the appearance (in our mental images) of the sentient species in a role-play world we're in the early stages of designing.
Um, also, once we eventually get started talking, we find it hard to stop! X3

Such a creative species!
This is one of my favorite pieces by you by far. Very well drawn; you can see the detail you put into it. I on the other hand, would never have patience for something like this xD

Thank you very much! ^^ I don't really have patience, either. I can get caught up in detailing for a while, but the last finishing touches are always are pain and are skipped more often than not.

Gorgeous colours and markings. I like how the ears are so pointed. The background is also stunning - you can really imagine this animal's habitat here.

Really nice Job. I do like the idea of the flying cat-like animal and since smaller animals evolved skins in order to glide, it's not that strange to see a feline having them, too.
I'm only wondering if it wasn't much more relistic, if it had a more small cat's bodybuild since it would be of less weight which in turn could make it easier to glide.
The background is not that detailed, but it doesn't matter, since the cat itself looks realistic enough and catches the eye. Really do like the shading, especially at the gliding skin.
Great Job ^^

this actually looks quite alot like a borneo leopard. their a relativly new species. like a short lion, with huge canines, that are so adapted to tree living and hunting, the can walk up n' down the strait tree trunks, and even reverse their back paws, to hang upside down a branch, ready to pounce.
