I had no greater plans for this sketch. Ended up coloring it at *oliverfox 's place with his Photoshop and tablet while the guys were playing ArmA, and when they finished it looked like this. I'm gonna keep it this way, even though it's not highest quality.

Varash is a four-years-old Lagupard female and the first of her kind to give up their indifferent attitude towards the war. Lagupards are intelligent beings, but they've never been particularly friendly towards other species, including the N.C. When the invasion came, they thought it none of their business what the two-leggers did to each other. Varash however lost her cubs to Noian soldiers. There are no Lagupards where they came from and the exotic, giant cats were interesting game to hunt. The mother's grief and rage were boundless and she tracked the little patrol down and attacked, killing one but being badly wounded herself in the process. She seeked help of Nugue, a local N.C. who patched her up. This would have been unthinkable in former years, but Nugue was a child of the New Times that had changed the N.C.'s attitude towards "lowlier" lifeforms considerably. Varash joined his species' side in the war, still driven by her thirst for revenge. It was clear though however mighty and strong the Lagupard was, she was no match for bullets or even simple blade weapons. So a suit of armor was made for her. Most importantly it doesn't hinder her movement too much and each metal scale was seperately padded with leather so they don't make noise when she moves. The metal is also rather dull and doesn't reflect too much. On the other hand, it leaves many areas of her body quite unprotected, for example the neck. And of course she can't put it on or off herself and needs help. She's however much more likely now to survive counterattacks. Later the duo became a trio and good friends. Maybe I'll draw the other two as well some day.
