Description

This is my OC cat, Granite, Silver Gladiator of the Fire Empire, leading a border patrol as ordered by the Fire Empire leader.

The patrol consists of:
Patrol Leader: Granite {[link] }
Accompanying Gladiators: Nimbus {[link] } and Chepa {[link] }
Accompanying Apprentice: Chioni {[link] }

A soft breeze blew through the trees, bringing with it the smells of the spring forest. Granite lifted her face to the wind and parted her jaws to drink in the scents, searching for anything out of place. 'Moss, prey, growing things...' The identity of the scents ran through the snow leopard's mind. 'leaves, water, blood....BLOOD?!' Granite's eyes flew open, and she swung her head around to face the rest of her patrol.
"I picked something up!" Granite called. "Chioni!" She called her apprentice. The young ocelot bounded up right away, leaving behind the bug she was stalking. "Tell me what you scent."
The apprentice took a moment to scent the air, but the breeze had slowed.
"Outsiders...?" Her voice was uncertain but her tail began to lash. "Someone has been hurt."
Nimbus and Chepa had joined the two, and where sniffing the air to catch the scent, but it had vanished.
Granite looked around. 'I'm glad I decided to wear my armor today...It looks like I might need it...' She spotted some upturned leaves near the root of a tree, and slinked over cautiously. She observed the indents in the soil and gave it a smell. Granite beckoned Chioni and the others with her tail. "It's Outsiders alright!" she pinned her ears back in anger. "On Fire Empire territory!" Chepa let out a low growl.
"Let's follow it before they escape." Granite nodded and flicked her tail. "They went this way, towards the plains."
They set off, Granite in the lead, pawsteps falling silently on the forest floor.
"Will I get to fight?" Chioni blurted out, bouncing up excitedly to her mentor, breaking the silence of the forest.
Granite shot her an angry glare, but replied in a low voice.
"Quiet down before we get ambushed on our own turf!" She hissed. "but...let's hope we don't need to. Now get back in line."
Chioni flicked her ears in irritation but fell into the ranks as told. They were nearing the edge of the forest now, and the sun shone brighter through the trees up ahead as they thinned out. The scent was growing stronger. The scent of strangers, and blood. As they neared the last of the cover of the forest, Granite beckoned her patrol around her.
"Keep a good lookout for ANY cat, but stay together. Let me know if any of you find anything. Nimbus, you come with me. Chioni, stay close to Chepa. You two will bring up the rear." They nodded eagerly, and then set off.

The plains were empty, but the scent told them it hadn't been much earlier. Their pace was fast, but not too fast to miss anything substantial. Granite heard Chepa growl low behind her.
"There are strangers here...and they're not even that bloody far!"
At that moment, the strong stench of blood hit Granite's nostrils.
"Let's GO!" Chepa and Granite yowled together, and the whole patrol dashed forward towards the scent.

Chepa suddenly veared away from the group and crouched, giving the ground a sniff. The rest of the patrol slowed.
"Look guys!" The tigeress called. The patrol loped over in a couple strong bounds to see what she had found. Red stained the ground, and tufts of fur lie here and there. "There has been a fight here!"
"Good find." Granite said quickly.
"We have to report this right away!" Chepa exclaimed,
"Come on!" Granite confirmed, and the patrol dashed back to the trees, and towards the camp.
