Description
The sixth generation and the once considered to be the beginning of the modern age of the Ndona Kingdom.Besides the first part of their lives, this generation's history would be marked down no matter what. Their friendships, their relationships, who they met, where they went, and overall their lives.
No longer would anyone risk history being tampered with again.
Mohatu, Jenerali and Zawadi were raised by their grandmother Eda from the getgo. And she became a teacher for all three of them.
Not even Saliti was allowed much time with his pupil. Though some argue this was probably for the best so that Jenerali would take his duties far more seriously. Which he did, and was the first to begin the preferential towards cubs born in Ndona to be in the Guard rather then looking for outsiders.
Mohatu grew up into being a similar person that the young Queen Omba was. He's kind, open to listen to anyone that comes to him. He takes his duties with stride.
Zawadi would be the first Royal cub in generations to be betrothed off. Because of this she didn't receive nearly as much training as her brothers. But Eda gave her a "what to expect" run down and lessons on how to act as a consort.
Whether she took these lessons to heart is to be decided.
But it was very much a "if you see the Royal Cubs, Queen Eda won't be far behind" type situation. Which in the case of Jenerali loved (grandma boy) and in the case of Mohatu and Zawadi they felt smothered.
Though Mohatu to a lesser extent. Even if he and his sister still struck out and snuck off whenever they could.
Mohatu was only a teen when his grandmother did finally pass away, and he inherited the throne with hesitation. He was far from ready, and relied heavily on his uncle Saliti for support.
Something he and Jenerali never really did however. The two very much on opposite ends in regards to ruling. With Jenerali wanting a very much “Us Vs Them” in regards to anyone outside the Kingdom, whereas Mohatu wished to hear the plight of any and worked to find a solution for them. Despite them being of another Kingdom.
During their teen days, Mohatu’s betrothed Laina arrived at the Kingdom with Zawadi being sent to her home in return. Laina came with an odd rumor that she was cursed. Though no one confirm or track down where this came from.
The two were friends for sure. But no one believed there was much romance between them. The two would have three cubs together from separate litters.
Laina never partook in royal business, and seemed happy to be an ordinary lioness. Leaving much of the tasks to her husband.
During his adulthood, a heavy drought hit the Kingdom and the surrounding territories. And Mohatu made a move that would very much put him and his brother at odds. He opened the territory borders.
Notably the reasoning for this was due to Ndona being one the least affected of the surrounding territories, and still having water. A meager amount, but still water.
Many entered the territory for a chance at water. Even one that Mohatu knew. One he’d bonded with and had desperately wanted to be a part of his brother’s Guard. His name now long unknown, but he is remembered as the Selfish Lion.
He had come to rule over the lions of the Mbala territory. Or the Outlands as some would come to refer to it.
Everyone knows the story of what came of him drinking water. How he disobeyed. How he attacked.
For Mohatu it was a wake up call to look elsewhere for water. This wasn’t enough for anyone and he wasn’t willing to throw anyone out in these times. For Jenerali it was a confirmation that they shouldn’t waste resources on the likes of the Outsiders. Look how they show their gratitude.
Mohatu reluctantly left his brother in charge of the Kingdom while he sought out water. A tradition he started was this venture out of the Kingdom should it be dire enough.
Which while he did succeed in finding water, it turned out to still be disastrous back home.
Jenerali did little to show his disdain towards the outsiders in Ndona. Restricting their access to water more than prior, enforcing rules and restrictions upon them, and casting out anyone who questioned him or made too many errors.
It eventually ended in violence, one that involved both the Prides, and some of the animals. While there was thankfully no casualties there were injuries. With the most critical condition being that of Crown Prince Ahadi (along with a Mbala girl he’d been fighting with).
The scuffles didn’t end. Neither did they when he lead them to water.
No there was a deep seated hatred between the two Prides now. One that had been brewing on one side for generations for Mbala now returned.
Any outting risked a skirmish, and Mohatu ended up having to send the Mbala lions back to their territory to try and keep the peace. Which unfortunately didnt work.
Eventually he and the lead lioness of the Mbala Pride met up to discuss a peace. A betrothal between the Prides, access to water when necessary and that the Selfish Lion would be purged from the territories.
Mohatu reluctantly agreed to these terms. Anything for peace.
How much the Selfish Lion had influence no one truly knows. But since he was the Lead Lion of the Pride, it would appear he got the brunt of the blame. But it’s believed that Mohatu personally told him. Or that it was Jenerali who chased him far from the territories. Or it was both.
It appears to be one of the few pieces in the history that wasn’t included oddly enough.
Mohatu was despised by his son and daughter-in-law for this decision. Though he couldn’t blame them in the end. But this was for the betterment of the lands. He even did more in trying to have another cub for the Mbala Kingdom so their “Prince” could have a betrothed as well. Along with that he worked to also have the Pride recognized as a true Kingdom.
Mohatu would be a personal role model for Mufasa, and his primary caretaker. Jenerali would never see his great-nephew be born, having died of a massive heart attack while in the Cave of the Guards. His nephew Agizo inherited the role and was very much a more relaxed Guard than his uncle.
Zawadi while away would send birds to relay messages, and did try to make a habit of visiting her family. Though that did eventually fade as they all got older. Though she never visited during the drought. She got to see her great-nephew only once though before passing away in a hunting accident.
Mohatu would be the only Monarch on the Ndona record to die of old age. While Royalty typically lived longer than most, it was still something to pass of old age. He died the night a new Prince was being born.
The longest reigning monarch was also in his title. And his death did cause turmoil in his, and the surrounding Kingdoms. Something his son struggled to settle down when he assumed the throne.
But Mohatu is remembered fondly by those even generations after his death. Especially by his grandson, Mufasa who ensured the cubs of the Kingdom knew of the late King.

Should just be one more and then I’ll be done :,)
But here’s Mohatu and his siblings. Honestly I’d love to make a comic of Mohatu. He’s my blorbo I guess. And for some reason he gives off golden retriever energy.
Which I basically have the idea (need to write it down damn you), but I’d also need to fix the timeline. Desperately.
Also some name changed in a lot of places tbh. But I like these names better.
