This was done spur of the moment- but yeah the friends Simba had that weren't other lions.

Swifty isn't included, since this is supposed to be when he was in the Pride Lands.

They're Daabi (Aardvark), Simon (monkey), Dhani (Rhino), Lemuta (zebra), aaaaaand Makuu (crocodile).

Of them, the only one I can confirm made it past Scar's reign is Makuu. The others? Well

Well maybe Simon can survive. I do like him in the comics. Weirdly enough he's one of the few comic introduced characters that appears more then once.

Honestly if I could, I would make him an apprentice to Rafiki. But I don't think he's a mandrill. Though whether being a mandrill or a hybrid is a requirement idk.

But eh- I guess I'll share my ideas about what happens to each of the friends?

Daabi makes it to adulthood, and is killed right after Nala escapes the lands. I have a little HC that some hyenas did plot to kill Nala due to her being a bit more rebellious and arguing back more often.

Daabi overhearing this, warned Nala. But since she left the safety of her den, this put her at risk and she never made it back to her den. But at least Nala escaped, right? :,D

No I won’t let Nala find this out either. I think that would do a lot of damage to her knowing that.

Dhani passed not long after Scar took over. Due to over hunting and some overzealous hyenas, he was one of the first casualties. Scar put in place the law where the lionesses were to hunt for everyone after his and countless other needless deaths.

I really tried to find a Rhino in TLG or other media for him, but couldn’t. So he died young.

Lemuta grew up and began his own herd in the lands. A rather young leader at the time, and one quick to defend his herd. The incident as a colt and seeing his mother being hunted by his friend's mother kind of shook him.

He however didn't send away one lion who proposed a coup, and to help rid the lands of the hyena Clan. He joined in on the coup, but it ended up failing. And he wasn't one of the fortunate ones who managed to flee in time. Thus he was executed along with anyone else caught.

Simon I'm not 100% certain about since I just remembered him. But I'm leaning towards survived. But that's liable to change of course.

Now Makuu we all know what happens with him. And while he and Simba were close when they were younger, it's no longer the same when the Prince now King returns. It's been years after all, and friends naturally grow apart and change.

Which Makuu is possibly the oldest in the group. Fun fact- it takes crocodiles approximately 10 years to be considered an adult. Well a breeding adult. So timeline wise... Makuu was possibly hatched around the time Scar himself was born! That is if I do make Makuu 10 years old by the time of TLG, haven't decided yet.

Ah the curse to be a slow growing/long lived animal. I guess it would be natural for Makuu to grow apart from Simba after a while. Soon enough they'll be considered two different age groups!

And yeah that's partly why I'm hesistent to write about other animals. Gotta take aging of that animal into consideration Y'know?
