Description edit- Here's an update from last night's streaming - Still not too impressed with how the Gouger's turning out, but then again I was flagging badly by the time I got to 'im and it still have a ways to go before that one's ready for its sample coat for the final sheet.

Figured they're far enough along to reveal them!

These are the five adoptable species I am prepping for custom sales to help fund for a new photoshop program (since my tax returns are paying off most of the ER bill as I found out).

The Lightback above is almost done and ready, still needs work on the highlight department before moving onto the others.
I'm still unsure as to the individual pricing of each pet, but the list goes from simplest (lowest) to most complex (highest) - Buflit, Orta, Saurem, Gouger, and Lightback

The Lightbacks are a little more in-depth behind them for species info, but that'll be touched on in the actual commission page I'll put up.

Any suggestions for pricing based on what you see in the Lightback, as they'll all be shaded like that, would be welcome! One person suggested $15 for custom colors, but we'll see what others think too shall we?

Haha! It should probably be called a Fu TIGER since the main body influence is of the siberian, just not quite as long. This also includes headshape, though I daresay the mane makes it look more lionish D:

I love the concept and the Saurem and Buflit must be my favourites among them. The pricing I can't give any suggestions on since I am not good at pricing art, but I wish you best of luck with these!

Thanks! I'm thinking as far as pricing goes to do a set per creature so folks have an option of simple, moderate, or complex markings without the next person feeling like they got cheated of their money with a simpler design over the previous extravagant one.

Hehe, I figured to make an adoptable that would cater to most people in this set.

These are wonderful designs, hun. The buflit is especially adorable given my love for both birds and lepidopteran species. If they resemble what would be custom color refill adoptables, I think $15 would be reasonable.

Thanks! They are 'refill' adoptables, though the auction ones might have special customized features both natural and 'manmade' like a steampunk themed Lightback or some such.

Problem is though $15 for all would be a little unfair if someone bought a Lightback at that price, while another got a less detailed (lineart wise) Buflit for the same fee.

Ah, I can understand the concern. If you're worried about that then I'd recommend separate releases with adjusted prices, that way the discrepancy wouldn't be perceived. Which then brings you to consider if $15 would be a better high end or low end?

Hmm, but all the same, if they're all released at different prices based on complexity seperate - it'd be the same situation in the end so why not release at once? Then likely folks would better be at ease if they're getting their full money's worth in the pet they choose without wondering why someone else got a different pet with more details at the same fee while the first person got a basic design.

15.00 on custom colors for more difficult pelts is MORE than reasonable. You are still doing personal creature and character creation for the individual, so make sure to not sell yourself short.

Aye, though the question is what to price for the 'simpler' pets like the Buflit and Orta?

I generally do anything from 7.50 USD on up for simple line art designs. Add 1.00 for medium level markings, 2.00 for complex markings

TaesoSpiritDragon In reply to ElysianImagery [2013-02-12 10:01:26 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm.. I was thinking of doing a range for each based on markings desired - such as the Lightback would be $15-$20-$25 respectively for simple-moderate-complex markings.

woah ho ho, these are epic! I love the first and last one especially. You should sell them for 100$ I'm just kidding, I have no clue about that stuff

TaesoSpiritDragon In reply to 10kdays [2013-02-11 21:38:05 +0000 UTC]

Hah, well that'd be nice wouldn't it? The auctions of special customs might fetch that amount - and that'd be awesome in saving up for the programs I need, but personal customs I'd make more available to people :3

yes, I'm sure it would I get it, I wouldn't pay 100 dollars even if they were super amazing

Yeeeaaahhh.. short of it being an auction >_> which is still crazy - I've seen basic character designs run up to $300 before.
