I guess that Chara just wanted to be ended but never could because every time they'd die, they'd RESET.

Hm, it's true that it's the chance to die for good and take the RESET with you forever and spare monsters from ever getting killed again...but with it also goes the chance of them ever being freed...but also from being hurt by you ever again. Tough choice, especially after you see what you are capable of and what you have done.
