Well, here he is finally. After a year+ of refusing to make him, it's Kamen Rider Build. As said on Zi-O, I'm done making civilian appearances and/or weapons. No interest whatsoever. Also the stupid belt-bottle holder thing, yea no. The thing holds three bottles but he can still whip out dozens out of the toku-nega space and looks terrible empty on his waist.
It's no secret I do not care for the design, or really the series. The one good thing I can say about Rabbit Tank is that it's a pleasing color pairing. I'm just not a fan of anything else. And I haven't been able to get beyond episode 20 or so, twice, so maybe I should give the series a third try. But goddamn, a simple entertainment series should not take three tries to keep me engaged and hooked.
This picture will eventually will be updated with Build's other base forms, to include those that are Rabbit Tank extensions and other (far too many) best matches. That's a core issue I have with this series: there are too many forms and you don't feel that Rabbit Tank is at all important or the 'core form' until upgrades to it happen. Up until that point, it's just another form that gets jammed into your eyeballs before another form does. Take a deep breath Rider, please.

I think Build would have been better, in terms of form progression, if they didn't default to the "best matches" right away and had Sento use different combinations for different situations. OOO kind of did that with the combo system, and I think it worked out pretty well.

One, they should have limited the number of best matches. The pandora's box has what, 10 slots per panel? That's insane. Put a slot on each corner, a total number of 24 bottles, at most 12 best matches.
Second, they should have just had Build be Rabbit Tank and it's evolution forms. Then maybe go the Kabuto route and have other riders utilize other devices to henshin into some other best match forms. I mean, there's plenty of ways they could have made the forms more bearable, but no. They just vomited forms every episode.

It's always interesting to learn what people like and don't like. I'm not saying Build is the best Kamen Rider series, no. What I'm saying is, it's in my top 10 (not my top 5 though).

Yea I'd need to actually watch the series through to say where it'd rank for me. But because I've tried twice, I imagine it'd be hard for me to set aside my current apathy if/when judging it as a whole & complete series.

That's a pretty unique opinion on Build. Kinda refreshing, I'd say. Everywhere I go I just see people loving it to death, although for the most part it's the nostalgic people speaking (from the point of view of a brazilian watcher, people who grew up watching Black and RX in the 90's, those were the only ones to be broadcasted here).
I do like the show, but I think it's way too overrated by some people, kinda annoys me sometimes. But still, even my problems with the show might be way different than yours.

well dude, if you fell like the series is not you think , then don't forces you self, you will fell like yours wasting time, i did the same for a bunch of series i din't like i stop watching KR mid wizard, and only returned in Build,i saw Gaim, but din't like the fruit and the dancing, Drive, just din't like it, Ghost i stopped after Robbing hood soul, the one i wanted to watch was ex-aid and i never got around to it , all this to say if you don't like something and its not your thing, don't forces your self, just move on

Well, at least now people will stop pestering you to make Build. So there's that. You didn't do a bad job, either. I can see why you don't like Build's design. It is a very hit or miss design choice. That said, I do like Build's designs as a whole. I'll agree that there's way too many of them, but I like how a lot of them look. Though I think the best part, for me, would be the eyes. They're representative of whatever thing that the bottle is based on, and gives Build a cool (if asymmetrical) silhouette. I'm starting to really like the recent Rider trend of doing silly/unique things with the eyes. Certainly helps to make them a bit more unique.
I also don't blame you for getting bored with the show around where you did. Build is really guilty of dragging on that "War Arc" of the story for way to damn long. Doesn't help that the bit where KR Rogue is the main threat is almost an exact copy of Grease's antagonistic runtime (right down to the conflict being ended with a proxy/tournament battle). And if you ask me, even when they finally get past that part, it doesn't get much better. Evol's a cool villain Rider with cool suit designs, but his schtick of just being uber invincible gets old FAST. And it never goes away, unlike with Chronos who got countered hard with Muteki. I still had fun with the show, but it is not one that I'll be going back to anytime soon.
Sorry for the little tangent, just wanted to get my thoughts out there. I should probably do that Build Final Thoughts journal I said I'd do months ago... ehh, maybe later.

The eyes are fine at best to me. Tank's looks like a stupid derpy smile. Seriously, find a picture of the helmet and tilt your head. Tank has two 'eyes' and the treads look like a smile with teeth. I can understand the appeal of unique visors/eyes, but I do hope there's a return to simpler designs soon.

Well, I try to be an optimist.
And now I can't unsee it. Well, at least I know Build's always happy to see me at least, lol.
But yes. Traditional eyes would be a nice change of pace for next season. And I seriously think we need another "return to form"/"back to basics" series like W again at this point. And with Zi-O being the last Heisei series, they may very well do that. Not counting on it though.
