Well, it's here. Power Rangers Cosmic Fury is out in its limited 10 episode capacity, so here's the team. And heck, this is the end of the franchise...for now. It's been a complicated, uneven, history of success but there's no denying that it left a mark on generations. If it wasn't for me liking PR as a kid, I wouldn't be here all these years later making pixel art heroes. I do appreciate PR for getting me interested in Sentai (and Kamen Rider to a lesser extent these days), but also for still giving me a way to be creative with some art and design.

Pros: Amelia gets to be the first female Red Ranger in a lead role! That's a cool note to end the franchise on. Orange Ranger is fun! Morphers are kinda cool original PR designs, moreso than some other PR-original morpher designs.

Cons: Oh boy. "Zenith" is a terrible title for Zayto's new suit, and terrible color; it should've stuck to that Ghost Coloring of white at the end of Dino Fury. And the fact he keeps this non-color when he becomes a Morphin Master, cmon. It's a bad color choice, yall.

Javi's arm is a unique thing, it's a unique story beat, but it just feels so...pointless in the grand scheme of things when he struggles for all of three minutes then has no further issues.

I really don't like Aiyon's arms staying navy, I almost would've preferred he also get a color change to yellow since it's kinda odd the other Rafkonian Rangers got color swaps.

The silver shoulder pads are super weird and just don't mesh with anything in either Ryusoulger or Kyuranger - it feels like they wanted to emulate the original Dragon Ranger/MMPR Green Ranger chest armor, but the execution if just lacking.

The padded torsos on the costumes look real bad, but I will say promo pics and still images made this look much worse than when the suits are moving. Because my regular bases look sometimes more defined, musculature-wise, than your standard Sentai suit's material I don't feel the need (or the desire at all) to replicate Cosmic Fury's padded torsos.

The angles at the waist feel so randomly weird; I recognize Amelia and Fern's actual suits don't actually have the above-belt ones, but I don't love the inconsistency so added it here. But then I don't love the inconsistency of only those two having the below-belt silver lines. What can I say, I'm a fickle bitch.

The lazily added gold to make each helmet "new". Do more, or nothing at all. Damn.

What's most odd is they're still using their dinosaur powers/designations when morphing...so ya know...why completely remove the Ryusoulger/Dino Fury chest symbol, why rework the designs *just enough* while keeping the helmets? It's all just so incredibly off-putting. And like yea, I get it, the budget went to all the spacship battle and CGI legacy megazords, but eeeeshk.

My main non-design criticism is the zord/mecha inclusions here. It all feels very rushed and quickly hand-waved away and honestly...I think they should've just not had zord/megazord fights at all. It's just a waste here, they're not really drawing power from the new zords, there's no connection to the 11 zords introduced in 10 episodes. They already have to introduce the gimmick of their base being a spaceship so why not just keep your "zord fights" to the spaceship flying around? The zord fights are just so useless, and the roulette wheel of who's piloting which zord is frankly distracting. I know, I know. PR's a toy show, it needs to sell new toys. And while I love Kyuranger, barely using those mecha while still having the spaceship/base a major CGI set piece in the end means you don't need robo/mecha fights leased from Toei. Just, baffling. Hell, the even bring back poorly realized CGI renders of past Megazords in the end, that's fine. But there's just no need to introduce new zords when the show has to juggle all these other plot threads.

Another criticism: not a fan of ending the series with Billy still wondering about Zordon, just like he did at the end of the recent special. Wrap your plot threads up, for fuck's sake.
