Β we have european paperwasps here. They are not ninterested in human food and they aren't aggressive at all. They have a good patience when I come near with my camera

I'm late on this, but we call them yellow jackets-- they do sting like wasps, though!
I would somehow rid it, only if it posed a danger to you or any of your pets, but if they were minding their own business and you, yours, well,
as I always say, live and let live! Or die another day...

They sure don't look friendly but reading all the comments I guess they do help control ants and other such problems around here.

Or another way of killing them is with fire but nobody enjoys hearing the screams of millions of dying bees so... Dragon.
Dragon good.

well they look like paper Wasps..ours are kinda unique and more orange They sting like hell if they hit you ...there is a European version that are deadly I believe and they are yellow thought not sure of their nests...
yeahΒ Id get an exterminator or do a kill at night little after sunset with the right stuffΒ (usually the can design to spray a lot further) and a red light torch so as not to disturp them it makes sure there all home at night..
Dont know what you Get in the US but heres our version www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbaβ¦
normally leave them alone they leave you alone but thing is they only progressively grow to more and more so you got to get rid of them...in short a pest to be gotten rid of
Oh and dont squish one during the day apparently lest wise here
they release a chemical that like an emergency siren to the others...well so the story goes I hear anyway Id have to check that
Good luck Cheers mate

Thanks my friend. I will leave them along for awhile. They eat ants and now that they have decided on a place to live I haven't seen one ant!!

starlight2infinity In reply to Tailgun2009 [2013-08-18 12:35:07 +0000 UTC]
yeah the prob with ours is you get so many so changes of running into them gets higher
ours are a very painful sting been hit 3 times I recall
most thought they arn't looking to sting you
But yes everything has place in natures order.... true...
if you got no little ones running around it would probably be ok
just warn you guests not to panic and start trying to swat them
cheers mate

yep...the night time...chase em out with some 12 ft wasp spray and destroy the nest will end it..its a big group
they are going to get bigger..nasty when disturbed... i said burn the nest when its down..because they will return and look 4 it
for a few days..they find it down and cooked they leave that day..

just wait till nighttime when they are all inside and any hardware wasp killer will take care of them. then when you know they are dead remove the nest....its no big deal...just make sure its like 1-2 in the morning..

oh shit, better call an exterminator or something..they will keep it going till it is out of control..we had one triple overnight and the price for removal just goes up.

Definitely -maybe I really need to do something about them and soon. LOL maybe a couple of shotgun shots with buckshot will eliminate the problem.

They might be yellow jackets, or wasps. Yeah get the hives removed so someone doesn't get stun. The exterminator can spray the hives so it it easier for them to be removed and show the photos to the exterminator so they have an idea for what they are dealing with.

do you plan to call an exterminator or something?

Tailgun2009 In reply to yamixhikari [2013-08-12 11:39:36 +0000 UTC]
I might contact one about moving the hives without killing them since it seems they are good to have around to reduce the ant supply around here

yamixhikari In reply to Tailgun2009 [2013-08-12 12:02:28 +0000 UTC]
oh I see, you shouldn't kill them then, but it'll be bothersome if they go inside.Β
we had one like this and they were always getting inside and I'm afraid of bugs so I was
running out of the room screaming like there was no tomorrow

they look like some sort of wasp; I think they're too big to be yellow jackets, but YES KILL THEM they are mean little snots because they sting with no purpose. Whether you attack them or not. Get some RAID bug spray (kills everything including roaches) and let them have it!
