Description
recreated this screenshot in AI. it's a scene from the movie "The Thief and the Cobbler" and obviously it's a shot of Tack, the said Cobbler.I just watched this movie for the first time in probably 15 years, and fell back in love with it. if you watch it, make sure it's the original and not the remade, dumbed down Disney-esque version.

What do you mean "the original and not the remade, dumbed down Disney-esque version."?
Are you talking about the Miramax version?

I think she meant the ReCobbled Cut, there are some of the original scenes and unused parts of the movie and Tack(Well he says one sentence) and the Thief doesn't talk in there. And yes Miramax did kinda made a remake of it, they booted Richard Williams off the team and they just cut scenes from the movie and added songs and other stuff. If you haven't seen the ReCobbled Cut, check it out, it's really fantastic!!

I LOVED Tack in that scene where he and Yumyum were looking at eachother and tilting their heads. Tack just looked so adorable I thought I was gonna die from cuteness~
And you know Miramax did it, right? Not Disney? Just asking, cause in your description it kinda- you know what I'm gonna shut up. XD I was sorely disappointed by the Miramaxversion though. It's a damn shame what they did to that masterpiece.

thanks! and yeah, I know it wasn't Disney, but the remake was really bad and tried to be like Disney, with the songs and the rewritten script. The Uncobbled Version is how it needs to be watched, unfinished animation and all

You mean the Recobbled Cut, and yeah they did try to be disney, I really think that's one of the things that killed em.

It's not just the animation that was great it was also the settings which made the art great! Yeah Richard Williams is a great artist! I wish I could learn to draw cartoons with him.
So I did not expect you to like The thief and the Copper. I couldn't handle watch the bad remake.
One question...Why would the Animator R. Williams take 20 years to make the film to make it perfect? That dos seam right at all.

it was annoying to watch all the storyboards during the good parts, but otherwise I enjoyed watching the fluidity of the animation. Tack's voice at the end bothered me though. it sounded really fake, and I would have preferred his voice to be softer and more gentle.
as for the 20 year production, I think they just had trouble with funding and all that stuff, and then with it eventually getting dropped... it's a shame that no one has gone back and REALLY finished the whole thing up.

I had forgotten how good it was. I remember watching it as a kid, but rewatching it made me appreciate how much effort it took to make something like that. the animation was fantastic.
