My contest entry for the RavageTale design-contest, hosted by SavageRavageStudios

Weeeeee! Designing a Gaster for a growing AU? Count me in alright!

A few information given about the Gaster were classic points like him being a skeleton/ half-skeleton (lich) with a sciency background and appearance as well as being a sophisticated character with certain tendencies for his behaviour. Such were like having quite the temper and even a tendency towards violence when angry or majorly upset. However this to be seen and taken with a giant grain of salt and have already been telling me a lot of how his personality could be in the end and this also had some influence on the design.

Since sophistication and science an go along just fine, I also have created a much more formal attire for him in addition to his typical work-clothes.

For this Gaster I've thought of a man with a lot of experience as well as a high level of responsibility and therefore also stress. Due to this profession and also state he has a lot of weigh on his shoulders to bare. Not only for Monster kind, but also for the team and project he's in charge. This is not a good thing to keep a balanced mood, of course, and therefore Dr. Gaster needed to find other way to compensate his frustration, which have not been the ideal to choose from.

I think of this character as a "forced perfectionist"; With so much responsibility, pressure and overall expectations to fulfill, he developed the flaw to lay heavy punishment upon those who botch up and endanger the schedule of his projects.

A flaw he's aware of and certainly not happy about. The same goes for anything about his sophistication: Under the line, I think this Gaster could rather be enjoying a plain, normal sandwich over a fancy lobster salad, but of course he would still eat the salad, for it is expected from a skele-man of his state...

Here are a few ideas and facts I have about him when I did the design:

- Dr. Gaster's right eye (the white one) is actually blind and therefore one of the lenses of his glasses are dark-coloured.

- He holds a glass of wine, alright, but actually he prefers red grape juice instead of alcohol, which he actually despites.

- Like many Gasters, he too like turtleneck sweaters.

- Being a sophisticated monster, he is familiar with the proper ettiquette, however it is tiring him and left him even bored at times. But he enjoys dressing up in a proper way for it and has a few sets of good and well-kept attires for several occassions.

- His glasses is one piece with straps all around his skull to hold it in place, so he won't lose it when working in places he has to move a lot. The bigger glass-piece also helps him to make up for the lost depth-seeing.

- Gaster never leaves his home without his holder for vials and a scalpel to take samples on his way to and from several locations.

ATTENTION! This is an contest-entry and therefore this character was created for this specific reason.

However should it not be among the winner/ used in the RavageTale AU, I already have a backup-plan for this doctor. Should this design become the Gaster of Ravage!Tale, though, he will become the character of SavageRavageStudios.
