Description
ATTENTION: If you are not able to read the text very good, please let me know. I'm also free for questions and like to help. Here we are. My second tutorial and, as announced before, about how to create brush-tools for Photoshop along with a few basic-fuctions. The example turned out to be a drop of water with a VERY EASY example of how to create rain with it.
Like I said before: it's a very EASY version of what you can actually do with this, but it give you a first impression and basic knowledge.
Have fun with it

I've always wondered how to make brushes, thank you. 8D Although I still have a question, let me see if I can ask it so you understand...
You know how some brushes (like the default grass brush you have in this tutorial) slightly change color as you use it? Do you know how to do that? XD

well, there is an option in the brush-settings to make the brush in use changing color while using it. you find this option on the upper right cornor of the Photoshop when you are equited with the brushtool. I dunno what it's called in English, but it should be named something like "brush-settings". In there you find an option called "colorsettings" and there you can set how many colors the brush can use, based on the front- and background-colors.
I hope that'll help you.

Nice tutorial - man I am ever glad I did German for 5 yrs at school now! Lol
I followed it and made a quick test picture using it here: [link]
I think my angles / scatter ratio is kinda wonky but other than that I think I got most of what you bestowed here.
I think I'll definately try and make a sakura blossoms and grass ones [of my own] in the future, now I know what roughly to do. XD

I had a look on your test-pic. The angles are ok and so is the scattering, so no worries about this. What you could try maybe is reducing the flow's cover a bit so the drops look partely transperant. This options is in the same mask, in which you can change the random size of the brush-tool (if I remember right ).

Taleea In reply to KristenTheHedgehog [2008-04-26 16:22:15 +0000 UTC]
well you do it basically just the same way like with other shapes. And in fact, PhotoShop 7.0 is having a shape for a snowflake already from the start. You should find it there. If you don't like it's look, though... well, then you can draw one, scann it in PS, fill it black and saved it as a brushtool like I explained in the tuti

Hey, I didn't know you could even do that. That's neat. I don't use Photoshop, but I wonder if it'll work in GIMP...I'll have to try it out. If it does work, it could come in handy.

Thank you ^^. But actually, you should be able to use it in your programm, too. Whenever you have working tools like brushes and such, it should be possible to create your own tools as well

Danke.
Hab SpaΓ damit ^^

Taleea In reply to AnnietheGreenKitty [2008-01-28 08:21:16 +0000 UTC]
I did a few paid jobs for other people, but not here on DA. As for the commissions...
Well... I thuoght about it before, but I'm not certain if I should. Besides: I really have no ideas how the commission-thing is actually working in the first place, like what sort of prices for what and so on. Plus I have absolutely no idea how the paypal-account is working *has one, but never really used it before...*
First, I like to figure that out.

like me then X3 I don't understand a thing about paypal and so.
the only comission thing I do when people pay me a subbie and I do an art for a request and thats it X3

I see I think I will ask some of the professional artists here at DA. I know a few who earn cash with commissions here apart from their real work.
