Hello there and be very welcome to Mendertale!The story will start now. Finally! Boy, I'm so excited and sooo happy I'm really be able to put this into something real to look at and read and show to you all.
I honestly hope you will enjoy the story and I also hope for a little bit of feed-back. Please give me comment and constructive critique, it really helps fueling the fire of creativity and my determination.
Mendertale is the first actual comic-project I'm doing in about... gosh... seven years I think.
So, I hope I still know how to put a story into pictures...

If you're asking if there will be an Error! in here, then no, sorry. Mendertale really is just an AU, not a multiverse-story.
But be welcome to have a look if you're interested in the story. It has a more serious tone to it and runs on overcrossin plot-strings, connections between characters and deep emotions.

I like the emotions you've put in this cover art. It really settles the theme of the comic and prepares readers to something dark and very emotional.
It's great that you've put the WD translations in here :'D I think I should write down a "WD to normal letters" table at some point

Yeah, I have a thing for strong emotions and hidden messages/ double-meanings when drawing and illustrating, so my AU has quiet a lot of those, alright. XD
As for the tableau of Wingdings... I think this has been done a few times already, but I might do a lore-chart someday to explain how you can easily learn how to read them. (which really isn't that hard if you know how the font works 
And yes, I prefere to use the uppercase letters for the Wingdings and Gasters speech, since it seems to be closer to the canon facts about him, thanks to entry 17. And also because both, Sans and Papyrus only speak in either upper- or lowercase as well in their representive fonts. This is why I too think that Gaster is actually a skeleton.

With me, I had to go a bit deeper into different scientific topics like quantum physics, geology and so on. But also, I researched about various bureaucratic things and tried to transport the monster culture into a semi-relistic context.
For example: how long does it take to built a small town? How much is the monster currence worth if it would contain actuall gold? Or what would it mean for the environment, if Mt. Ebott is actually an inactive volcano?
After a while I've decided to write notes down, just in case... and I'm glad I did.

Nice! Actually I also think than Mt. Ebott is a volcano since there's basically lava not too far from the surface that keeps CORE running.

I like to explain things as logically as you can go with monsters, magic and souls evolved. XD
My plan is to have the mysteries that most likey will come up in my AU and strike questions in others, revealed as comprehensible as possible.
Also the reason why I did so much research before I started... and still do, actually.
I just figured out how both, Gaster's accident and the Void could be explained on a scientific base now. Took me a while, though.

Of course, it helps, but in my opinion, it's always a matter of style.
Some people just do it differently then others, which is great.
Of course there are rules you should follow when you do certain art-techniques like proportions, realistic lights and perspective, but even those rules can be bend and quite a lot by that. It's the unique, representive style everyone has that makes art... well art.
Also the reason why my contest is a lot about the idea behind the entries, not only the actually art or style.
