Description
My entry to Sabuku-no-Saya 's contest to design the parents of one of their characters. I had quite a lot of fun designing these two. I've decided to name the father Vikali (strong) and the mother Saluni (salon/beauty). If I win the contest, Sabuku can change their names, designs, and backstory if they like.

Now onto the backstory part of my entry:

Vikali is a natural-born leader, tough and diligent. Just before the previous leader of his pride passed away, Vikali was proclaimed his successor, and he gladly assumed the role. Vikali spends most of his waking hours ensuring that everything in the pride runs smoothly, that everyone is well fed, potential enemies are kept at bay, and every pridemember is happy and healthy. The only times he takes a break from his responsibilities are to eat and sleep. He almost never lets himself have fun.

Saluni is quite the opposite. She loves to relax and play, but utterly despises work of any kind. She uses her wits, often with her feminine charm, to get what she needs and wants from others. She'll often act like a helpless, little lioness just to get others to be sympathetic towards her and give in to her demands.

When Saluni first met Vikali, she instantly began using him to get what she desired. Everything from exemption from hunting duties to getting the best spots to sleep, she asked for it, and Vikali gave it to her. She had even managed to trick the prideleader into falling in love with her. Eventually, the two had a daughter together.

Shortly after their daughter's birth, Vikali discovered that Saluni never truly loved him and was only using him. Enraged, he broke all ties with Saluni and viewed their daughter as a symbol of his weakness, and thus named her Wongo (lie/untruth). He almost never interacts with his daughter and in some cases even purposefully avoids her. Saluni, not one to take her responsibilities seriously, ignores Wongo almost as much. Without loving parents, Wongo is lonely, bitter, and untrusting towards others.

Anyway, if I win the contest, I'll send Sabuku the unwatermarked Sta.sh version of this image that they can repost so long as they credit me and don't edit it or trace over it. If I don't win, then I'll probably just keep these guys.
