Description
111218-A-VB845-210A UH-60 Blackhawk prepares to land outside of the Usmankhel Village, Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, Dec.
18, 2011. (U.S. Army photo by Spc. Kristina Truluck)/Released)
The only Blackhawk I had the chance to fly in and they wouldn't even let me dangle my feet outside the doors. =c

Amazing! You did a great job capturing the helicopter's movement and the piece is balanced beautifully. It's darkness makes it stand out very well too, and the angle is very powerful and dynamic.
Great job, keep it up!

Awesome focus! I love how there's so much detail, but still the sense of motion. Lovely color contrast as well.

Thank you!
Contrast is such a pain to get out there with all of that dust. Dx

Simple yet outstanding photo.
I love that the sky is completely blue.

Thanks! It's hard getting blue skies out there. If it's not insanely bright, there's most likely a dust storm turning the sky tan. Dx

Great capture and nice placement in the frame. Also I like that you didn't freeze it, I think you should be able to see the motionblur of the propellas

I'm glad someone else thinks the same as I do about photographing helicopters.

yeah, wouldn't it be weird though if you'd used like a superfast shutter and it looked like it was pasted into the scene

It would be. I wanted to try a long exposure of them fueling, but I didn't have a powerful enough filter for it over there. Dx

The Blackhawk is just perfectly positioned in the comp. Looks like the rule of thirds or the golden ratio might've had a subtle influence on this.

Just a tad bit.
It was the first thing I learned way back when I first started, haha.

Perfect shutter speed - just enough motion in those blades

Thanks! I want to see if I can slow it down even more next time I get the chance.

Great shot! I love the slight blur in the rotor blades from the low shutter speed.

That it is. <3
Though the Kiowas are pretty cute, too. Especially when they have them outfitted with the heavy weapons.

The next step of course is to design something that combines the best of both.

OMG YES.
Or something amazing just bristling with heavy weapons.
