Description
I know, I know, I said I wouldn't be active here until finals were done, and that should include no uploads. Buuut I had a hard time getting to sleep last night, so I doodled this to help take my mind off things. One quick shade job later and viola, it's...still kinda messy. But I feel like submitting it anyway...so yeah. X'D Hope you like this silly little thing regardless.Ruby Rose (C) montyoum , Rooster Teeth

Once again really cute! >u< Same as with Korra, the eyes are a bit too close to each other and this time the left eye (our perspective) should be moved a bit to the left. I also already mentioned that her bust is a bit pointy, but that can easily be fixed o: Still, Ruby has that really cute, dorky and typically-Ruby expression here, and this sketch really looks like one you had fun with which also makes it fun to look at ouo I think the shading in this one also turned out better than Korra! I think it's due to lighter and darker shading here which looks much better ^^ Keep the good work up

Bahhh, that's what I get for getting away from drawing for a while. X'D Even though I did just have fun doing this, it shows how rusty I've gotten. Not to mention I've barely drawn anything else since this. Ughhh. I still think the Korra sketch looks better, even though I did blur the shading some here to help with the airbrushed look, whereas Korra's shading looks all blobby. Nonetheless, I don't know if I like how this stupid doodle's already the most popular thing in my gallery. Seems like every time I move accounts, there's this one pic I submit that people really like even though I think it's stupid and I've made much better pictures. |D We'll see if this ends up becoming that piece for this account or not, I suppose...
That's enough rambling, though. ='D I'm glad you like this anyway, Amalette~<3 And I'll be sure to remedy those mistakes in the future.

Weeeeell, buuuuut... if there is this one pic you submit that gets more attention than you expected, doesn't that mean it's more well-received than expected? Meaning it isn't as bad as you think it is?

In some cases, that could be true. =o But in the case where the pic in question only gets more attention because it's tied to something with a pre-existing fanbase (RWBY, in this case) and when you take that away, you can see that I've legitimately done better pieces prior to and since that pic, then no, it's just as bad as I think it is. Maybe even worse. XD I dunno, it just makes me mad when people like that one shitty thing that I did just to do something for a fandom, but all that attention never translates over to the shit I actually bust my ass on. Or at least put more effort into than the shitty thing, anyway. |D

Well, but then again people mostly like to look at things they are familiar with x'D Personally I try not to blame people too much for this because I do the same except for friends, too! It's impossible to look at everything when you have about 5,000 messages in your inbox on average. On top of that, it's easier to put fanart into active groups than art of your OCs that might be better. The best you can do is to try that one way that gains you attention that fits you. So all in all, that means that faves and comments aren't really a good indicator for which picture in your gallery is "better" than another.

This is true. ='D People are typically more drawn to stuff based on something that's already established, rather than something new that they know nothing about. Which is why I want to do more fanart of RWBY and Avatar and stuff. Buuut at the same time, I'd still prefer to flesh out my own ideas. So I guess I'll be evaluating my art based on my own observations more so than others' opinions. vov

Well, eventually, it sounds cliche, but just draw what you WANT to draw! If you want to draw RWBY or Avatar, draw that. If you feel like drawing your own characters, then do that! I used to draw fanart for faves but notice that this often doesn't work either. At least nowadays, it doesn't really work for me anymore. And even for Sonic art Tumblr notes seem to be impossible nowadays, too xD Although they used to be good for some attention. So just draw what is fun for you! That's the best and healthiest solution anyway.

Well, that's the truest thing. And typically, I do end up drawing whatever I want to draw at the time. It just that people never seem to notice it, either way. But that's life, I guess. XD We can't all be winners. At the very least, I'll still try to push on and enjoy myself while I draw.
