One detail : check if belt-fed version of the Hotchkiss 1914 machine gun has been issued in noticeable numbers to French Armed Forces prior to 1939.
I know some project were carried on, but I haven't heard of any of them being completed.

I higly recommend the Sven Hassel series.Really good and enjoyble books. The only problem is that the narrator tries to make the reader to believa that all of it happen when it is all made up. But otherwise really good adventures during the war ^^
