Description
Quickly putting this up before I run out to do some dA errands. Long story short, this was supposed to be a simple crossover submission for the NATG's ninth day, but the temptation to go the extra mile expanded the scope of the production into a love-letter to a game I don't even consider my favorite. Who'da thunk?I originally intended to create just the doodle at the center of the image; while I had trouble going forward with Pinkie Pie in a retro style, I wanted the Vault-Boy and a pony from the start. As I looked up references from Fallout, I checked for the font behind the series, just out of curiosity. Turns out it's Monofonto, and I already had it installed. I then stumbled on the fact that "Fallout Green" is practically the video game equivalent of "International Klein Blue", so that had to go in, too. Oscilloscopes seemed pretty cool, too, and I had just the right textures...One thing led to another, really.
Process-wise, I went back and forth between Paint Tool Sai and Adobe Photoshop. I rendered Pinkie, the Vault-Boy, and the non-alphabet symbols in Sai, while I dealt with the text, layout, gradients, and textures in Photoshop. Special thanks goes to all those anonymous folks who were nice enough to share their screencaps of Fallout on Google Images and the like.

Man, I have enough trouble playing the game on a PS3! I can't imagine how people haven't gone crazy from the load-times on their modded PC versions!

It's easy, when you have 100+ mods, you just start it loading and it's done by the time you've gotten some snacks... from the store... two cities away...
It's worth it though, I can't imaging playing a plain FO3 game, not nearly enough to do in the base+DLC game.

I know. The loading screens are WAAAAAAY too long on consoles. It takes my XBOX at least a minute and a half to load.

As a lifelong self-critic, I'm gonna have to disagree with that.
But I appreciate your support, nonetheless. At least I had fun making it.

You mean the font? That's Monofonto, and I had the fortune of finding it for free over here: [link] . Font size and coloring shouldn't be a problem, but I wish you luck anyway.

If you're using Windows 7, it should just be a matter of right-clicking on the font file and selecting "Install". You can also drag the file into the "Fonts" folder of your hard drive's "Windows" folder.
Doing either of these makes the font available for all of your programs, from Word to Photoshop. Just follow the same steps if you've got other fonts to install!

Happy to help! I can see from your gallery that you'll make great use of Monofonto, and I definitely can't complain about more Vault Boy fan-art.

How's this? [link]
It has the same dimensions, values, and style as the images extracted from the G.O.A.T. test, but there's more to do according to [link] . Let me know if you need anything else for the mod.

'Preciate it. I didn't want to settle with his traditional, copy-pasted grin (since Pinkie needed it), so I did some research and found some more expressive portraits from the original Fallout. They're really worth checking out, if you have the time.

You talkin' big bands or radio frequencies? 'Cuz from my experience, there isn't much to hear in the Capital Wasteland, aside from gunshots and glitches.

Thank you very much. I originally planned to tally up the hours of sleep I'd lost doing the event, but I was too tired to figure out a solid number, and I really, REALLY wanted to poke fun at how much fan-art I've done as of late.

Thanks. I spoke many times with the author of that particular story, Mimezinga. He and I had some pretty interesting discussions on the permanence of innocence in an otherwise ruthless environment. Great guy in general!

It's a very unique story, it must have been cool to get to chat with the author. PE has really grown on me as I've had time to digest it. When the FO:E Book Project does print copies, I think I'll get one.

Humor is what kept me from losing my mind in the Capital Wasteland. I'm so very glad I managed to channel some of that here.

I can't see "Vault Boy" without thinking of the Vault Keeper from EC Comics. So I guess in my headcannon, the model for the Vault Boy mascot is still living, as a ghoul.

Hey, it worked for Ruzka the Bear in "Point Lookout"; it's quite possible that, at the very least, the original creator/inspiration of the Vault Boy is still wandering around the American Wastelands as a ghoul. That'd certainly be a neat tidbit in FO4 or something.

Pink Eyes was pretty good. I'd recommend Project Horizons, Fallout Equestria: Heroes, and Murky Number Seven. Just be careful with the last one; You'll get angry for the main character more times than you may want to.
