Description Second to the last chapter synopsis of my prelude novel, “Birth of the Shivanian Heroes.” Title of a chapter: “The Last Battle”
The war in Ta’za Empire at the eastern part of Lizardland had begun. A throng of Shivanians and Ka’thnosians together invaded the fortress beyond Infernal Lands where all diabolic multitudes were aware of this assault. Hotara and Skaro’s codename, operation “fireblast” brought to his vast number of army. During the invasion, Hotara and Skaro and their extreme warriors wisely climbed onto the fortress wall where Ta’za artillerymen, crossbowmen and spell sorcerers, and they killed them with their weapons. The air was illuminated like a wildfire. Now the Shivanian armies were able to shoot fire arrows ahead to scorch opposing forces guarding the front gate to Master Grakkon’s throne. There are so many glowing fire arrows zooming over the fortress wall and they scorched the foes to clear the area.

It's so perfect pose and colors.

I wish I could see that battle in real... and fight alongside them.

Great work.

Scorch the enemies or explode them?

Burn the Ta'zans' scales...Only if Hotara equips a pack of exploding arrows. XD

Awesome pose! It's got some great action.

Now I see you've already got a lot of constructive critique, so I won't repeat anything Patrick said (regarding anatomy, I presume the short neck is one of those details you discussed). I'm most interested in knowing if you would consider drawing the scales differently. The way you do it, makes the skin look very rough and bumpy, but that's not exactly how most reptiles' skin looks. Like a desert, scales are normally very smooth, and it's just the thin cracks between them that give it texture. Also in places where the skin is flatter, like around the head and pecs, the individual scales will be larger. It would be cool to see you reflect those features in some of your future scalies!

OMG! Thanks for your comment! Uh, I presume that my scale texture is okay, but you told me those scales should be smooth and shiny like I hold my scaly pet. This looks not so normal.

Sometimes, I can alter my scale texture by using a brush tool not so dark, but lighter, before coloring.

by the way...you declined two of my artworks. I understand you don't like me to contribute bloody images.

You say it doesn't look normal? That's how lizards, snakes and most other reptiles' scales look, but if you like the way you do yours, that's fine as well. But experimenting is good.

If you can, it's best to keep the scale pattern on a separate layer from the colors, so it's easy to adjust one without affecting the other.

The group submissions are decided on a majority vote, but yeah, non-violent art is preferred.

You did a very fantastic job on the texture shading and lighting to depth displacement. The pose of all conveys a sense of urgency that adds to the atmosphere of combat.

Wow, the sky looks beautiful, tha fire looks so hot as well, and Hotara looks great ^ ^

About the shading from the fire arrow, well, it´s no match for the fire from the right side, so I recommended you to put less yellow from Hotara´s body from the left, but the rest looks awesome ^ ^

Yay, so you are done now.

The background works with the character, because there is nothing that would drag too much attention.

The cold blue night in the left part and the warm red/yellow parts in the right side correspond VERY well together!
A nice harmony of colours and temperatures!

The character looks way better, too.
We have already talked about the anatomy very often, so I won't go into it now.

About the light and shadows:
Be careful! There is much warm light from the right and only a LITTLE BIT from the fire arrow, okay?
But in your case here, the fire arrow sheds TOO much light onto Hotara!
Just don't overdo it.
I would have drawn less "yellow shine effects" on Hotara's left side of the body. The effect on the right side work well! But the arrow is simply NOT as strong as the fire flames from the background.
In this case, you've done too much light effects again.

"Homework" for the next artwork, where you want to draw HOTARA (or any scaly or humanoid character):
Try to decrease the level of the muscles! You finally know at least quite well WHERE the muscles are. Now, it's time to lower the "strenght" of the muscles. Draw less "black outlines", okay?
Less lines! The shading can do all the work, you don't need that hard line art here. ^..^

Overall: this artwork is way better done than many other works in the past time!!
Good job.

Thank you very much, Patrick!!! And the lighting should be in a correct way where I would render.

I will know better next time.
