The dragons really dont exist in charmed . The only one seen in the series was conjured by Pipers baby, it looked real but it was a fake.
And i really love this 2 page wonder whats this building

well thought out two page spread dave. the tree and the dragon are particularly good. nice framing of the "castle" by the artwork. I think it might work as well or better to narrow the box with the eyes on the first page so the tongue doesnt overlap and it matches more the narrower boxes on the second page. but thats me. this will look great colored!

I loved doing the dragon on this one, and over all was really happy with the results on these two pages. Then the bad news; I was told to take out the dragon, because dragons do not exist in the Charmed universe. This was a real kick in the pants, to say the least! I don't know if this came from CBS, or whether it came from the writer. The writer suggested in the script that I draw Pegasus, the winged stallion, perched on a roof top, which I thought was kind of lame. I mean come on, these are witches we're dealing with here. And I did it to add a sort of darker atmosphere, and to add an element of fantasy, which is something I love doing. I was also told not to draw skulls, I guess they're afraid of upsetting someone.
They compromised with the dragon, and decided to color it as if it was a stone statue, so at least I didn't have to remove it.
The colorist did do a great job on the whole two page spread, especially on the dragon, but in the end he had to change that as well.

I saw this coloured in the latest issue and it looked great. Although I can see why the skulls needed to be removed as this is Magic School, a place for good magic, it wouldn't have made any sense or be appropriate for skulls to be lying around since the school is protected from evil.
The dragon however looks great in place, and I'm happy that was kept because it really gives the scene a very ancient feel.

No skulls, no dragons...that is too funny. I guess you are lucky they didnt ask for a big black cat. This kinda reminds me of when i am asked to draw bulletin boards and such for teachers at my school. I usually sketch it first then show it to them and "I like it but can you change..." A pegusus is a lot tamer then a dragon got to admit.
I think i watched a few episodes of Charmed in its run. Mostly for Allisa Milano and "the hot, pale skinned crazy babe that actually dated Marilyn Mason and wore a see through red carpet gown that prominently showed her ass at some awards show"...i just remembered her name! Rose Mcgowen. Dim bulb show mostly but nice scenery. Anyway i actually recall an episode where they used the smart witch from Picket Fences (this time i dont recall her name)baby to defeat a dragon. So unless they were in another universe dragons do indeed like their Milano. I was more of a Buffy fan myself. Buffy as you know has gone on to comics as well. On and On and On.
The two page spread reminded me of Jeff Smith and Charles Vess. They do similar line work. Vess is hard to beat. Unique style. He's up for a World Fantasy award this year. I have a signed print of his on my wall: Companions to the Moon. I love how he puts so many "surprises" into his art. Fairies etc. hiding among the trees sort of thing.
Glad you made it into ERBapa. I think Tracy will be happy to have you. I think i will finally suck it up and join myself as soon as i get back up to bat in a few months. I'd love to go to the next DumDum but i believe it is up in Ohio this year. Too far fer me. I sure which New Orleans would attract one of those damn conventions. But noooo.....
Later, JH

That dragon was conjured by baby Wyatt. They don't exist anymore in the Charmedverse. They even predate the Book of Shadows from the sisters.
I have to agree, a pegasus would be ridiculous, I love the dragon more. I'm glad they kept it though, even if it's a statue.

Holy Marie Combs (plays Piper) was the one from Picket Fences. =0)
And, yes, in the later seasons, little Wyatt (the older son) defeated a dragon in one of the episodes. I'm trying to remember if there were skulls in the series, but I'm coming up short - I just remember lots of darker magick, with blood and cages and a lot of black.
Looks great!

There were skulls used in the series, so I'm not sure why they didn't want skulls on this one.

Nice, actually saw a copy of number one on the shelf at my local comic shop a few days ago, but didn't have the money to grab it at the time. That was a real bummer.
