I'm not going to lie to you, I was gutted when I had to take those ears off. But, I only did so several hours after the shoot.
I was so excited to do it aswell, the costume isn't the best, cause the majority of it I made myself. I was annoyed that the collar didn't stay upright, but I did buy only very cheap material. It didn't help that I only got a new sewing machine until the night before this shoot. The old one finally packed in and gave up the fight (I googled the serial number aswell. Half of that tunic was made using a 76year old Singer.)
The boots and the vambraces were made completely by hand.

ah yeah i remember that scene you're on about.
I've recently reread the books. so i'm an absolute terror for LOTR at the moment.
though now i'm reading some HP Lovecraft. im on the Call of Cthulhu right now. thought since i had to endure the final Eragon book, Inheritance, that i need to get away from fantasy books for a little bit. we'll go for some classic horror.

Sweet! A fellow Lovecraft fan! Last summer I started an acrylic Cthulu painting. I researched of all things nuclear bomb explosions for the massive scale needed to show him erupting from the ocean floor. He is described as being 'miles high', and the vids were the only thing big enough to use as reference for water displacement reference. Interestingly while painting I realized they are so huge they cavitate the ocean floor. So the explosion is barbell shaped. The debris cloud is also formed of dirt sucked up and dropping out. Odd and freaky stuff. I left off the painting but have plans to finish.
Too bad Guillermo del Toro had to leave off his planned At the Mountains of Madness film project. He was perfect for it to dorect. He threw in some Lovecraft nods in the Hellboy films.

you should finish it. it sounds awesome.
i love del Toro.. without paying attention to the story i can be quite happy looking at the sets, the art and the make up in his films by themselves.
like in Hellboy 2, that troll market. i want to be there. that way ic an absorb everything properly

Random question, I know, but may I ask where that sword came from? I really love the design. Very historical, and elegant in its simplicity. Wouldn't mind having one like that myself.

A shot an arrow in the air, where it landed.. I know not where. (Old English rhyme) Good form here. I like the effect. Just turn the arrow so the index fletching is out...
