My half of a trade with *sVa-BinaryStarHer half is here:
This is *sVa-BinaryStar 's Pyre Ember 2224
I don't often seem to draw black horses, but this little one is so pretty! I love that white tail and the contrast of her against the snow was fun to play with. I hope I did her justice for you, BinaryStar, and I did try to capture some of the feel of the cat painting you liked, but I don't know how well it worked. I just hope you like how this came out
.And I did sort of out of focus snow fall over the top of her, too, but if you'd rather I just kept the snow in the background, I can take them out easily enough

I love drawing snow. I'm not great at it, but I do love doing it - and footprints are some of my favourite things to create
The background was a bit of an experiment. Binary said she liked something about my airbrush painting of Yemi here: [link] so I tried to recreate the loose, abstract feel of it by blending the snowy atmosphere into the snow on the ground and really bringing Pyre out to the front with generally soft shading, but some picked out highlights.
I'm not sure about the white reflective underlight on Pyre - snow throws back the light in amazing ways which I tried to recreate, but I don't know that I wholy succeeded there. I did try, though

No refs - sorry if the Nordy conformation is a tad off : I started and couldn't stop...

Oh my goodness this is so fantastic! Wow I'm so happy we got to do an art trade together because I love this piece. It really gets me in the mood for winter scenes and painting snow again. You did a beautiful job on blending the snow into the distant background, it's so soft an peaceful. And the detail in the snowflakes are amazing!
I see what you mean about the snow in the foreground. I had that same issue with yours. It makes sense to leave it but as artist it's distracting to the eye sometimes. I have a few over Poe but I think I faded them out so much you can barely see them. I like this painting either way I think. Although I wasn't able to see the under lighting from the snow until after I read your artist comment. So you can either leave the snow or take it off depending on what you feel like. I'm fine either way.

I was aiming for an isolated, peaceful feel, though I wasn't sure I got the tone of my cat painting in, but it definitely put me in the mood for more snow scenes (only a good thing, since I have to get two more done by Christmas) and it's just great to know you're happy with it, given how much I love you half ^^. Snowflakes, sadly, I could spend forever on - they're just such fun to work with
With the snow...I put it in because I think having snow overlap the horse adds some depth and sets them back in the scene a bit. But from the other point of view - it does put great white splotches all over your horse, lol. I think Poe's faded out flakes work well and don't interfere with her colouring, though like you, I didn't really notice them until you mentioned it (I love it when that happens and you go back to see things you missed before).
Personally, I'd leave the snow because I'm more for the realistic touch than bringing the horse to the forefront - but that said, its more important that you're happy - so its really up to you
