Description Today was my first day back to work after being since and only sleeping 3 hours. Of course I came home and took a nap! It was ok but I don't feel enthusiastic about returning to a place I feel like I just left and didn't get to do anything fun this break. *sigh* So I was feeling a little subdued tonight, hence the blue themed image of my Pyre running through the snow.

I actually really enjoyed working on this and like how it came out. I seem to always nail the overall feel of an image when I do the backgrounds first. I also took a reversed approach to shading this. I didn't use grayscale and I started darkest shade and painted the lightest parts on. All in all, I'm happy with it. I love winter and am envious of all of you who get snow. It's hardly even cold here where I live in Virginia.

Awww, don't be too envious. We haven't got all that much in Chicago and it sure isn't packing snow

This is lovely! That breath of cold air from her nostril is perfect and really makes the whole piece look icy. How did you do the falling snow? It looks really good; solid and obvious but not too overpowering

I can't seem to shade from the dark upward, but Pyre looks stunning; you did a lovely colouring job on her and the pose is great. I love the flurry of snow she's kicked up, too

Thank you! I use photoshop so I used the soft fluffy round brush (#5) and went into the brush setting and clicked the scattered option. I upped the scatter to around 50% and made sure it was on pen pressure. Sprinkled with snow all over. Then I went under filter, blur, and motion blur and in the box that pops up you can adjust the angle of the blur and how blurry you want it. Hope that helps and wasn't too confusing!

I'm glad you like it, the snow made this really fun. It's so easy to make a nice looking picture with snow!

You're welcome

And no, not confusing at all; that was really useful - thanks! I'll see about giving that a go ^^

And that is, true - Snow is wonderful to paint.

This piece really is lovely! I love the blue tones you used on this, and how you did the snow being kicked up. I also know exactly how you feel cause I seriously miss snow too since I live in FL but if we got snow it would be Hell froze over XD
