Hotah had not the strength to hunt buffalo, nor the speed to patrol the border, and so he was tasked with the lowest position a Wallowian wolf could have: pup sitting. Despite baring the public shame of his inadequacies, Hotah took to his post in stride, and found great reward in raising the next generations.---------------
Hotah tells his young pupils the brave story of Cheveyo, the selfless wolf who risked his life to defend his pack against the monstrous Wallowan lake monster. He teaches the pups that their imaginations are a powerful thing.
Location: Wallowa (off-map location; past event)
Season: Summer

I find it interesting how with your wolves, pup-sitting is a low position no one wants. While mine it's at worst neutral, and some even want it.
Not meant to say anything beyond exactly that. I always find it interesting to see the value different worlds put on different roles and responsibilities.

It is interesting! Hotah is a very empathetic and nurturing wolf, and in order to develop his character I wanted to put him into a culture where these instincts are considered lowly/ or feminine. I based the culture/structure of this fictional pack off a real wolf pack, and omegas, the "lowest" ranking wolf, do a lot of the pup-sitting. But this is not a representation of my personal beliefs, it's just a narrative for the story. I myself don't consider raising children a lowly pursuit (quite the opposite).
