Children's Day!
In most countries anyway.
The little girl in this piece came out so ridiculously cute, that I just had to render a close-up from a different angle.
HERE IT BE .
And Amy shall be her name.
But HOLY CRAP, did these render long!
The main one took four and a half hours, and the bonus (much smaller res) took over an hour.
Then again, I used to wait 13 hours for things to render, so...
I wish I had spent a bit more time on her glasses, though.
I've been insomniacing all over the past week, so I wasn't really good at thinking.

I WAS GOING TO AGREE WITH SYE ABOUT THE SAND BUT THEN DOWNLOADING AND LOOKING AT IT CLOSER MADE IT LOOK MORE LIKE SAND So congrats on the sand.
But I do agree with how adorable that kid is. Omg. Glasses. Freckles. Cute little nose. You hit all the bases. She's a dumpling of cute.

I was even thinking of making some more pictures with her, BUT I DUNNO.
And those clouds are the most amazing clouds I have ever seen. They are from two photos I shot on THIS DAY . There was a huge storm coming and the sky spawned all sorts of the most beautiful clouds ever.

Daww, what a cutie!
I really love the colors in this piece. They're so bright, and really do give a childlike feel to the whole thing. The clouds are great. Those grass blades too. THAT GRASS LOOKS REALLY GREAT. There are just a lot of things I really like about this picture. (Lighting included.
The only thing I'd improve are the sand buildings. They feel a little too... smooth and uniform. Like they don't have enough sandy texture.

I am actually not quite fond of the grass, but that's just because I know the technical side of it, and I know what I've done wrong.
I suppose it doesn't look bad, but I know it could've looked better.
AND I AM GLAD THE COLORS WORKED OUT, CAUSE I WORKED REALLY HARD TO MAKE THEM GIVE EXACTLY THIS KIND OF FEEL.
As for the sand, I got unlucky again. It actually IS super-grainy, just the DOF blurred it out completely.
Download it for bigger res and check the sand closer to the little girl. IT'S MADE OF NOISE ALONE.
But now that I think of it, maybe I should've given it some low-freq noise as well...
