The best way of making an autograph.The other way of making an autograph.
When I was a kid, I did that quite often and I always ended up with marker spots and lines all over my hands.
Today is Children's Day! Yup, you've guessed - this piece is dedicated to 'em.
Now, if you're so smart, try and guess why she's holding that marker in such a weird way.
(and no, people, there isn't anything wrong with her hands...)

No, really, I'm shocked, happy like Santa after Christmas, cause he can lay around and do nothing, confused, shocked, happy and I really don't know what to say!

Try some really detailed displacement maps on the hands, just for detail, as it looks way too simple. Β The SSS is really nice, I love the way it is affected by the lighting. Β The whole idea of this piece is wonderful. Β

Oh, that's a very old piece - nowadays I sculpt all sorts of details on my characters, and I do use displacement sometimes (not back then, though).

Nowadays I can't seem to even force myself (not that I tried; why would I) to make a fleshy character without using SSS.

Interesting! I love it! Yet that skin could use some texture, because they look like plastic doll-hands.

Actually there are textures (about six of them, in fact). The problem here is the material, it has bad specularity settings. It's an old piece.
But I'm glad you like it.

The fact that she is left handed is really nicely illustrated by the colouring of the fingernails on her right hand. It's a thoughtful and interesting addition.
