Description First way of making an autograph.
I promise I won't make any more "autographs".
Cause... You know. With what?

------

Oh, THIS I've never had the chance of trying, but I've always wanted to when I was little.

Anyway, this is a teaser, actually.
Remember my little girl model? Haven't seen her for a while, eh?
Well, that's because she got completely remade! YES! Almost everything from scratch!
New sculpting (using some heavily modified parts of the old model), new topology, new textures, new shader; heck - even the eyes were made from scratch.
But yeah - the model still isn't finished... gotta work some more on the face and battle a few tech problems, but what you see here is more or less complete.
I'm pretty sure the next piece with her will contain a face.
I've made her a lot more realistic this time; yep, you'll see how awesome she looks now.

Ahh, I feel like celebrating, so I'm submitting this in FULL SIZE for DOWNLOAD!

FUN FACT TIEMS!
"Astra" is a real Polish brand. They make paint for kids.
They're an old company, and these little glass jar/bottle thingamajiggers with paint in 'em you see are actually modeled after their real product from the late '80s!
I had them when i was a kid. And I made them from memory, so they might look a little different...
And that logo on the caps is their original logo from way back.
I remember I've always found myself in awe of that design (yes, and I was about six!), but unfortunately they've changed it now.

So, uhh... I guess this piece is like an advert... Umm...

At first I didn't think this was a 3d model!!!

I noticed there was something about it & I thought it might have been digitally edited but I really thought it was a photograph!

you got me

Now you're making me think (oooh I wanna try thissssss noooow!)

Can't wait to see the whole model!!

tchaikovsky2 In reply to AludA [2011-07-01 11:02:20 +0000 UTC]

Haha, I'm glad I could fool someone - that's always a great thing for 3d artists!

Oh, go ahead and try it.

Thank you!

OMg omg I love it! This is so kickass! And colourful and playful and smooth and cheerful... Kinda makes you want to jump inside the work & play with paint as well

I didn't know about Astra being a Polish brand, that's way cool.

And also, I CAN'T FREAKIN BELIEVE YOU PAINTED THE BOTTLES!!!!!!

tchaikovsky2 In reply to Dragonfly22 [2011-07-01 10:59:26 +0000 UTC]

YAAAAAAY!!! Thank you, I'm so glad you like it!

No, I didn't paint the bottles, my computer rendered them!
3d, wooo!!!

Zhifay [2011-06-28 17:37:38 +0000 UTC]

So, is this a digital pointing-like thing I looks really great, I love little body parts too, but I prefer hands even more

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tchaikovsky2 In reply to Zhifay [2011-07-01 10:56:53 +0000 UTC]

No, it's a 3d piece. You model and/or sculpt objects (quite like real-life sculpting, only with a mouse or tablet), create and apply materials to them, set up lighting, and then just let the computer render everything.

Aww hands.

Thanks!

Zhifay In reply to tchaikovsky2 [2011-07-01 12:36:28 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I get it now! My brother once had to do a thing like that too! He made a lamp.
Thanks for the explanation

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tchaikovsky2 In reply to Zhifay [2011-07-03 22:31:53 +0000 UTC]

Oh, how I despise making lamps.
Though... that depends on many factors; I had to make a lamp only once so far, but I really felt like killing my computer with fire wile I was at it. Now that I think of it, I just chose the wrong method.

And you're welcome.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Zhifay In reply to tchaikovsky2 [2011-07-04 05:10:15 +0000 UTC]

I think you're not the only one. I remember my brother yelled at the computer and freaked out quite a few times It must be frustrating when these kinds of things don't go well.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tchaikovsky2 In reply to Zhifay [2011-07-23 14:23:31 +0000 UTC]

ROFL.

The most frustrating part of 3dcg is hardware limitations. Like, not enough memory to render a character with HAIR.
Or a subsurface scattering shader (the kind you use to make human skin) precalculating a lightmap for over an hour, because your CPU is too slow.

Luckily I got both those problems solved some time ago by getting more RAM, a 64-bit system, and a six-core CPU.
