Description
Selecting a colour to represent Captain America was probably the most bothersome of all the Avengers. I originally decided to go for red, as i liked the idea of the red text in the credits at the side representing the stripes on the American flag. However as a colour, red does not represent Cap very well at all.So i opted for blue, as it is the colour which is best suited to him (largely in part to his suit). However when i colour graded the background characters i really didn't like the contrast between the blue and the American flag.
After some thought i decided to try making the background characters grey scale, i felt this would help represent the wartime era which Cap is from. I thought it could also act as a reminder of the vast differences between our time period and his. Plus i just love the contrast between the black and white photography and the American flag. And so, grey was the colour i arrived at to represent Cap.
The backdrop for this had to be the easiest of the lot, enough said.
Replacing the o with Cap's shield was a no brainer, it's the symbol he carries around with him at all times.
