Description "You know nothing. Hell is only a word. The reality is much, much worse"

"Where we're going, we won't need eyes to see. "

This is a tribute to one of my most favorite movies, the "Event Horizon" sci-fi horror. I just love the idea of traveling into a dimension full of pure evil on a hyoog space ship. It's a wonderful movie and one of those that got me into art in the first place.

This is a speedpaint of a sorts, done in about 3-4 hours. All so I could rape in her empty eye sockets.

Also: ZOMG IT'S ORANGE AND BLUE AND PINK! RUN FOR THE HILLS, THESE COLORS NEVER SHOULD BE USED TOGE-

Done with listening to a lot of dark electro and shit. Maybe a bit similiar to my older works, but it ties up nicely. Plus FUCK YEAH PERSPECTIVE BACKGROUND. Truelly a miracle)

The 40k fan theories people have about this movie made me love it. It's literally an accurate depiction of what happens when your Gellar shields are down, and you run into slaanesh.

"Were we're going, we won't need eyes to see because the faithful do not need eyes to see the glory of chaos."

I always saw a bit of all 4 Chaos Gods in the movie: The gratuitous violence/ bloodletting for Khorne, the 'Sick son' hallucination in the medical bay for Nurgle, the setting up of the mission itself as a 'plot' of Tzeentch and the weird Cannibal/orgy of the video log for Slaanesh.

This would be great concept work for a sequel.Β  If the edges of the corridor were a bit more blasted out, it'd work great for a nightmare sequence.

I actually just saw this movie for the first time the other day. Crazy shit, though it managed to be pretty cornball at times, especially towards the end (YOU LET ME BUUURN!)

Anywho, gotta love the color scheme here, definitely fits the tone of the movie. I tend to find that purples and oranges tend to give off a really otherworldly, haunting atmosphere when used in conjunction.

Event Horizon, one of the best science fiction ghost ship from hell movies I've ever seen.

Of course, I couldn't help but see bits of 40k in the movie when I went back to watch it again only recently. They make it sound like warp travel without the protective barriers.

Blue and orange are sontrast colours on the colour wheel, and work well together, so I can't see the problem here really. And as there is a fair amount of yellow as well, the purple gets a pass in my book.
A few finger gouges seem a bit flat, but apart from that, and considering the short time this was made in:

I personally loved this movie, though when I first watched it I was not older than 8, so it scared the living shit out of me. It relays the perfect message I get from the warp; your mind is forfeit, rape time.

TD-Vice In reply to Vlaskiyov [2010-01-05 18:27:48 +0000 UTC]

Heh, I watched it when I was 18, I think, so I hadn't got scared or anything, but it's theme and visuals impressed me a lot.

Very nice drawing, but i would not consider "Even Horizon" as horror movie.

I mean, its "horror" movie, but there is not much horror in it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TD-Vice In reply to gesmana [2010-01-05 18:26:44 +0000 UTC]

well it's more of a psychological horror, I think... Kinda like "Sphere" in some way.
