Really quick, dirty, color-study type of work, just about 3 hrs to get colors and atmosphere right. Used Bladerunner stills for bits of background and Freeport 's stock for the PMC goons. I don't think I've seen that sort of electric blue paired with purple before. I like how it conveys a neon-saturated atmosphere, where everything is busy and bathed in cheap, crass light.

Poor Operator doesn't seem to have any luck. First he gets ambushed in Osaka and now he's gonna be dragged of for some resocializing goodness. I must say, I love the colors in this. I've recently had an infatuation with the movie Drive and the game Hotline Miami, which both use lots of contrasting pink/teal for their visual aesthetic to capture that sort of retro 80's, sort of synth-pop bubblegum feel, and using that to contrast scenes of graphic violence and darkness. I'm really liking the aesthetic of the world in general. Like your journal mentioned about concept/aesthetic, there are a lot of subtle little things that link all these pieces together, like the angular shapes and the sinister sort of neon atmosphere. I really can't wait to read it when it gets published. Very good work.

Yus) Actually, I liked Drive and Maimi Hotline a lot, so youre completely right, I took it off with that, and added it to my soup, so to say. Infuture works, wanna play with offseting deeper, juicier reds with navy blues, that allways contrasrs nicely.
Heh. Well I hope. The outfits for grunts are not something Im too satisfied with - they were haphazardly drawn with no prior concepting and thinking out, hence why theyre different and all, i just needed the figures there, so there was just a general attempt to give the stock parts some slightly futuristic feel.

In terms of realistic cyberpunk, there's a lot of really good designs and world aesthetics out there, like Human Revolution and Cyberpunk 2077. Yours genuinely feels different, and while there are resemblances (unavoidable really), you really add your own touch and your own 'TD-vice' feel to yours. It's like I'm looking into scenes from an already developed narrative, and these are just teasers in the trailer.

They are truely unavoidable - much in the same way that say, the fantasy genre has solid aesthetical staples of its own. If theres a touch of my personal vision, hey, then I did somwthing right. That cinematic feel is what I indeed strive to achieve in storytelling art - i cant and dont want to do comics, but I wanna do snapshots)

This is a work that seems like it would make a good graphic novel. I enjoyed the blood tide strips while they were still up, but to each their own. Are you going to put the illustrations into the book?
