Personality
Clever: perhaps one of her more notable traits. Howlingstar finds unique ways of dealing with problems and can be relied on even in stressful situations to keep a level head
Harsh: but never cruel. She tends to over react to little things that irritate her and can snap at a moments notice. Whenever she feels she may be getting too hot headed for the situation, she will just walk away and return when she is a little bit more in control.
Motherly: Howlingstar thinks herself a good mother. She has a soft spot for young cats and often tries to by a type of motherly figure for cats that may have lost their parents during the move
Stubborn: Howlingstar is not one to give up for anything and is not easily swayed towards other opinions. She can be a bit hard headed, and once her mind is made up, nine times out of ten it won't be changed, regardless what someone might do. Even if her morals are being compromised, she may choose to save face.
Outspoken: not only is Howlingstar firm in her opinions, she will gladly speak out about them. She is by no definition of the word 'quiet and submissive' she is domineering and always gets what she wants. She's a sweet talker that knows what she is looking for.
Compassionate: Howlingstar feels for her clan mates, she knows the pain she goes through, and wants to be the type of cat others can rely on, often times she can be.

History
Kit:
Howlingkit was born in a litter of three. they was her parent's second litter, the first having been born too small in the middle of leaf bare and none of the two tiny kits made it through their first week. Violetstep had been crushed. At the time, the grey tabby had been very young and had grand ideas of what it would be like to have a family with her new mate Nightblaze. The tom was all to eager to try again, believing it had just been a bit of bad timing. The winter had been harsh, and their kits were not the only ones lost. Violetstep was not to enthusiastic. She didn't want to go through that pain again, of loosing all of her kits, but eventually she was swayed and became pregnant a few years later, when she was a little older and a little stronger. The birthing was much easier than the first, with Howlingkit born first, mewling do loudly her father named her Howlingkit. She was by far the largest of her litter mates (Firekit and Rainkit), nearly twice the little kits' size.
Even as a kitten, Howlingkit tended to be a little bossy. She lead her siblings around in all sorts of trouble, and with their growing size, they became a real hassle among the clan cats. With Howlingkit in the lead, they got into things they shouldn't have, including an excursion to the medicine cat's den where they promptly got into the herb stores and made a terrible mess. After that, Violetstep starting taking the siblings out of camp to get them to burn off some of their boundless energy. They were getting closer and closer to becoming apprentices and none of them could wait. Especially Howlingkit, who had announced during a game of pretend warriors, that she would become the greatest leader the clans had every seen. Witch was quickly followed by her brothers own confession, and her sister's as well. What kit didn't want to be leader one day?
without your love, without you I drown
Somebody save me I’m going down
Apprentice:
Howlingpaw was over the moon to be apprenticed with her siblings. Her father's close friend, Featherstorm, had been the deputy of the clan at the time, and he had volunteered to take one of his kits as his apprentice. Firepaw was beyond jelous to find Howlingpaw had been chosen over him. However, it wasn't because she was more powerful or smarter, or faster, Featherstorm felt she was more dangerous. Even at a young age, she was charming. Cats instinctively followed her. She was a natural leader, and Featherstorm wanted to be sure she wouldn't lead the other apprentices into trouble (like she had with her siblings as a kit).
As her training continued, the relationship between her brother became more strained. He stopped talking to her all together. Rainpaw was a little more sympathetic. She tried to reconcile her siblings, but aside from a few sparse words, it was useless. She grew close to her sister, often training together when Featherstorm was too busy with his own duties. Howlingpaw began to excel at battle tactics and moves over hunting. Her size was still rather large compared to most she-cat's, and a bit bulkier too, but she was no longer the largest of her siblings. It wasn't until their final assessment that her and her brother could get along enough to get things done.

Warrior:
Not long after, the three were made warriors. Howlingbreath was given her name, and thanked for her strength and leadership. She hoped, now that their younger years were behind them, he brother could get over the fact that the deputy had been her mentor. It wasn't that easy. From the start, Howlingbreath was given a bit more power than her brother. Only a few moons after her warrior ceremony, she was leading patrols regularly, sometimes being placed in charge of Firesnatch, who resented her for being treated 'special' as he saw it. Rainfur continued to be the voice between them, keeping them from separating completely. She was much more easy going than both of her sibling, soft spoken and sweet, but still willing to tell them when they were being utterly ridiculous. They were told so often.
Soon their mother was expecting another litter, and with the birth of Ravenkit and Aspenkit, they decided they could get along like they had as litter mates. Firesnatch promised to try being less jealous, and Howlingbreath tried to be a little less bossy. Without warning, cats of the clan began falling ill. The medicine cats were scrambling to find a cure for something that seemed like a bad case of green cough. Her mother was one of the first killed, and that is when the clans started calling it black cough. Their father, and Howlingbreath's former mentor were in the next wave of death, and Howlingbreath took it apon herself to take care of her younger siblings who were little more than weened. She was given her first apprentice, Lotuspaw, and divided her time between the kittens and her mentor duties.
Rainfur became ill soon after the kits became apprentices themselves. She struggled longer than most, and for a while, they thought she might pull through, but like the others, she passed on. This brought Firesnatch and Howlingbreath together as a family. Both were torn at the sudden loss of most of their family, as most of the clan was grieving as well for family and friends lost. Soon the leader, Coralstar, was taken as well, and the deputy, Fishstar, was named leader, only having been in charge for a few moons. He named an older she-cat, Cloversnout, deputy, needing the experience she could provide. He was neither good, nor comfortable leading, and when Cloversnout was passed of an injury sustained on a patrol, he was forced to name another cat, less experienced, and younger. Someone who was healthy and had a chance for survival.

Deputy:
Howlingbreath was named deputy. She was very close to many of the cats in the clan and was excellent at rallying them when it was necessary, unlike Fishsnout who was often ignored unless Howlingbreath snapped for them to pay attention. He struggled to guide the clan, and while no one hated him, they didn't trust him to do what was best for them, and while Howlingbreath wasn't exactly the preferred choice, her temper was one to be feared, and she was rather good at getting cats to listen. Fishsnout often sought her advice on even simple decisions. He caught sick, and the clan was in a panic again. Howlingbreath managed to reign them in for the time being, meeting with the other leaders to discuss possible solutions. She was not the only deputy in attendance because their leaders were sick.
The possibility of moving was first suggested, but shot down. None of the clans were keen on leaving their homeland, and believed the sickness would pass soon. They returned to their camps with nothing decided but to go home and wait it out. She returned, and no one was particularly surprised to hear the news. Fishstar had lost his first life while she was gone. The clan really started relying on Howlingbreath more than every. She was capable and not afraid to talked to warriors older than herself. She was quick on her feet and could make decisions without asking for advice, though she occasionally consoled her brother and a few senior warriors on serious matters. She had completely taken over leadership duties along with her deputy duties. She even named her sister's she helped raise warriors, Ravenflight and Aspentail, though Aspentail had caught the illness not long before, and given it to her litter mate Ravenflight. She felt it would be best to give them their warrior names before they passed. Soon it was just Howlingbreath and Firesnatch left of their little family. They were all heartbroken about their sister's death. Fishstar's lives were vanishing almost as quickly as he could recover, and soon Howlingbreath was forced to take after him.
And I don’t even know how I survive
Leader:
Howlingbreath went to receive her nine lives, terrified that she would be rejected because she was young, and had been doing what Fishstar had not been able to do for a long time. She was welcomed by her sister her gave Howlingbreath her first life.
Perseverance for doing what mist be done even when the road is difficult. She couldn't help but smile, thinking how Rainfur had helped bring her and her brother together again, even if it took her dying to truly make them a family again. Fishstar was next.
Courage to speak out even when you are afraid. Howlingbreath hoped she would be more prepared than he was to take leadership. Violetstep gave her her next life.
Compassion for those who have lost and will look to you to lead them. Hard times where ahead, and a heavy paw is not needed. Her father cam next.
Strength to continue your journey onward, even when it seems impossible to go on. Coralstar stepped up to face the she-cat, looking down at her with kind blue eyes.
Spirit to never loose your energy and strive to be the best you can be. A smaller familiar face parted the crowd, Aspentail.
Love to care for others like they are your own, and to never forget what it means, even when you are all alone. Surprisingly, cloversnout came next. Howlingbreath hadn't know her well, she had been past her prime when she was born.
Knowledge beyond your years, and be able to rely on yourself over others when it is called upon you. Featherstorm caught her eyes with his usual worried smile.
Control to know when enough is enough and when you need to walk away. Howlingbreath nodded, like a student to her mentor. Ravenflight was the last to step forward, seeming more mature then the the sick apprentice she had left behind moons before.
Mercy to learn to forgive others who deserve it, even when you can not. With that, she was given her new name, Howlingstar, and returned to camp, heavy, like the weight of the clan was now on her shoulders, like she had never felt before.
When she returned, it was late in the night and she still had to announce her deputy. She called forth Winterstorm because he was young and strong, but calm and collected, and they accepted. Another meeting was called by the leaders, unfortunately, with a lot of new faces. It was then decided the cats would leave and follow the silver river to their new home.
Once settled, Howlingstar claimed the land of pine and rocks for Dusk clan, and tried to get back to normal life before black-cough claimed the lives of so many.

Sairen
It was getting late in the afternoon, the sun over head was headed towards the horizon, the blue sky held streaks of orange poking out from a thick layer of clouds. All day Sairen had been expecting rain, but the weather had held and had been relatively cool, but dry. The silver tabby glanced between the trees as he darted quickly to another bit of cover, his dark striped pelt helped to hide himself in the shadows of brambles. why? because he was trespassing, sort of anyway. He had a deal with Gleda that he could explore the north region if he looked the other way when she took herbs from the south region. Of course, that wouldn't do much good if anyone but the sweet she-cat found him well away from the border. Sairen would probably never hear the end of it.
However, the weather was on Sairen's side. The sparse sprinkles of rain helped to hide his scent trail as he continued to search through the brush. He was currently looking for the north west caves. The searcher rookie loved caves and rocks and stones. They were his favorite places to wonder. When the darkness was chased away by the soft glow of the stones around his neck he felt comforted by the cool rocks arching around him with the soft sounds of air rushing in.
