Description This is the title character of a story I worked on with a friend of mine who passed away recently. The story is titled "x-key" and it is about a girl on an adventure though a futuristic hyper-punk dystopia. I plan to finish the work over the course of the next year using her writings and I will hopefully make something that she would be proud of.

As far as the drawing goes...its really rough. I did it on the Intuos 4 in Photoshop CS4. I'm still trying things with the design.

I didn't realize you did the sketch with a tablet until I read your comments.
The sketch, as "rough" as it is, is pretty good in my opinion...
I like the concept ....can't wait to see it finished

CS4 really makes it about as easy as using a real pen for me. With the exception of being able to step backwards in your history. I'm really feeling this character this week so you might see it finished sooner than you think.

Along with your tablet, it must be very easy.
Roughly how many characters are you going to sketch out?

I think I am just going to work on the main character for now, that and the enviornments. Its easier and harder in some ways becuase it still isn't as accurate as a real pen,at least to me. Still the ability to draw in photoshop is invaluable.

Okie..that sounds cool . It's probably better to establish one main
character before working on others...When I draw in photoshop/painter,
I find that my "drawing" always looks different than how I want it to look,
but sometimes it ends up looking better lol.

I was the same way. It actually took me a few years before I could really get the look I wanted out of Photoshop work. I love the versatility of Painter but I have been a Photoshop baby for so long its hard for me to think of constructing a piece in a Painter workspace. I see some really impressive stuff on DA with painter and I want to try it more...but somehow it rarely goes beyond the "messing around" stage. Oh well, someday I will give it a whirl.

I know what you mean lol. I feel like a noob with both Photoshop
and Painter, so it's going to take some time before I get used to
both of them. I love Photoshop for editing though..

It just takes time I guess. You're a good artist so it'll start to feel more like a natural tool the more you use it. I think you might want to get a tablet though,...trust me its worth it.

I do have a tablet..I remember having that convo earlier lol
It was a little awkward at first when I used it, but I've gotten used
to over the months. It's a very convenient tool
