My judge character for , which I am helping to run.

(For reference, the wood patterns on its face/body are a visual effect and are not a required part of its design. Competitors may leave this out of their depictions.)

Name: Cuahtlal Coatlitla - pronounced
Qu-Ahl-Al Co-Ahl-ee-la (the Ts are silent)
Alias/Nickname: Cuahcoatl (Qu-Ah co-Ahl), Coatl, Snek (Zol’s nickname)

Species: Unknown. When pushed, it claims to be a ‘Cuauhmaitl’. However, since this literally translates to ‘branch’, it's very possible it says this to shut people up.
Age: No one knows. It refuses to give an exact figure and tells competitors it has forgotten how many centuries have passed. It may or may not be exaggerating
Height/Weight: 120 cm length, 10lb

Gender: None. Goes by ‘it’. Will accept 'Them' at a push.

Reason for entering: N/A

Strengths:
- Impeccable camouflage. Its body blends in perfectly with the foliage of the maze. This allows it to lurk on walls and ceilings. Its eyes are often the only thing that gives it away.
- Excellent eyesight - can see long distances in high detail and in the dark, perfect for observing competitors.
- Very speedy. ‘Running’ and hiding is Cuahcoatl’s only effective tactic when attacked.

Abilities:
- Can slither up and cling on to surfaces at all angles, including walls, overhangs and ceilings, with ease.
- Does not feel pain. Since its body is akin to a vaguely more sophisticated stick, it has no pain receptors but it is always aware when it loses a branch or appendage.
- If it loses part of its body, it can regrow this. While this happens faster than in typical flora, it still takes weeks and months. The larger the body part, the longer it takes.

Weaknesses:
- It is about as good at attacking others as a typical twig. It can give an attacker a fairly hefty whack with its tail or poke someone (ineffectively) with a branch but that is about it. Its teeth are fragile and tend to shatter.
- Requires regular hydration to live. This feeds the foliage that covers its body. It can go a few days without a sprinkling of rain or a mud bath before the leaves on its body start to die. It is unclear how long it can survive without water.

Personality:
Harmless but very irritating. Cuahcoatl is a chronic people pleaser. It tends to act inferior to any who approach it, showering them with compliments and agreeing with everything they say. This, combined with its fondness for (harmlessly) irritating everyone and tendency to laugh/snigger at everything, makes it seem rather dim. However, if someone bothers to look beyond the facade, it shows signs of sharp intelligence. While it may not seem like it, it takes in everything going on around it and makes judgements. If you watch its face carefully, you might see subtle signs of its true opinions. Above all else, it loathes those who do not show kindness to others.
Cuahcoahtl hisses and is incapable of ending a producing an s or z sound without hissing. E.g ‘The mazzze isss a tricky place.’
History: Little is known about Cuahcoatl’s origins and life before it entered the maze. Cuahcoatl sought out the mythical maze after hearing rumours of its existence. However, rather than trying out to become a competitor, it begged Zol to let it help with organise the tournament. Zol found no reason to refuse and Cuahcoatl now helps organise the various challenges and observes competitors taking on the maze.
Likes: Moisture, mud baths, compliments, watching

Dislikes: Intense sunshine, rudeness, actions showing lack of kindness, probing questions

- Its name literally translates into Forest (Cuahtlal) Snake (coatl) Something (itla) in the language of the Aztecs, Nahuatl.
- No one is certain how it functions biologically. Its body is some sort of hybrid between a lizard and a plant. While it evidently needs moisture to survive, nothing else is known. It is unclear whether it can eat or can reproduce, or even if there are any other of its kind in existence.
- It claims to have been given life by an omnipotent being. Whether these claims are accurate are still to be acertained.
- While its body is made of a wood-like substance and covered with foliage, shockingly the vast majority of its body is made up of dead wood. Only the darker stripe of bark is living flesh. What this means for Cuahcoatl is entirely unknown and it refuses to entertain questions about the subject. If Cuahcoatl is suffering or fading away, it shows no sign of it.
- It is Zol’s number one fan. It refers to them as Mastersss/Bosss and irritates Zol continuously with its attempts to please and general antics.
- If injured, its body chips and shatters like wood. However, it also ‘bleeds’ a clear yellow sticky sap.
Note: Competitors are permitted (and encouraged!) to develop Cuahcoatl’s character, backstory, goals and condition however they see fit in their rounds. They may also add additional abilities as required.

(Other note: I'm actually a little bit proud of my art this time around. It was the first time I used Sketchbook and it was a real success. I had a lot of fun! I think it's the best piece of digital art I've done to date.)
