Description
I did the sketch of this baby on paper at the beginning of the school year and really liked it. I had no reference at first, so I basically fixed up the entire thing before coloring it. I'm actually really happy with the result. I wanted to add more realistic texture on things, but I've worked on it long enough, I just wanna call it done. Maybe next time!Anyway, this is my favorite-of-all-time alien species called the Rikti, and they are from the MMORPG City of Heroes (CoX to include all expansions). I don't want to say anything about them here because their history and relationship has a lot of depth and importance in the game, and I don't want to ruin it. But I can say that most of them are psychic to some extent and I based this one's armor off of a Chief Mesmerist or a Chief Mentalist. The colors are custom because I intended it to be a sort of accurate rendition of my very special own Rikti character whom I have RPed in-game and written some little fics for here and there (none are posted, so don't bother looking).
I've been toying with colors, as you might have noticed form a previous (and terrible) Rikti drawing. I knew I wanted it to be primarily grey and blue, but exactly what shades and placement I hadn't decided. So far this is my favorite, but I still want to add details to make it's armor a tad more unique from the others, and more battle worn.
Well, I gotta go to bed, I hope to get more art done soon!

You know, I looked at it close up and it doesn't appear I did the lines digitally after all. In that case, I think I lined this with prisma black pens, then scanned it. After that I edited the layer to be Black and White only. Then I duplicated layer and set it to Multiply. You can then add layers beneath it and the lines will stay on top without the white background. Hope that helps, feel free to ask questions.

Not really, sorry. I just made it up over time.
Basically I just had a sketch that I scanned into the computer. Then, using photoshop, I created a layer above the sketch, lowered the opacity on the sketch so it was really pale, then simply used a black circle brush to draw the lines. For this one, I remember I was zoomed in pretty close, and then after finishing, I went back and cleaned everything up with the eraser and such.
As far as style goes, I just used thicker lines on the outside and thinner on the inside, as well as thinner lines to do subtle details and thicker lines for more important parts.
Perhaps I can help better if you had a specific question? Sorry I dont know any tutorials.
Oh and thank you much for the Watch!!

Well I made their history so that they started out as part of the Lost, so I made some rag clothing. I also made some costumes that are just nice armor that allows me to put colors in a relatively similar place as Rikti armor. Can't really say which because it's just all sorts of mix matched stuff. But whenever I am actually RPing in character, I use the Rikti Transformation toggle power that was available for purchase back in Fall of last year. Hope that helps!
FYI the costume toggle is hideously colored. Its like yellowy-gold and red, so it kind of looks like McDonalds Rikti, but not as bad as ArgotBur'Wot. lol

Yeah me too. I often get bored while playing if I'm not on a team with people who have put a significant amount of time in to developing their character. It just adds a deeper dimension to the game that makes it so much more fun in my opinion. Pretty much all my characters are some kind of non-human, so I usually have a lot of fun coming up with bios and roleplaying.
My handle is @Techta (yeah, I use that name everwhere) and I play on Virtue most, and sometimes Freedom, if you want to give me a holla.
