Description
In February of 2010, the city of Vancouver BC will host the Winter Olympic and Paralympic games. Let us show the world that we were made for this.==x==
Probably the longest I have ever spent on a drawing ever. This has been spread out over at least 3 months, not including planning and (gasp) researching clothes.
For quite a while I've felt a little disapointed that van2010 isn't really inspiring the dA comunity much. It's affected my life so much in the past 3 years (construction and such) that maybe I'm just over aware of it for some reason. But getting to hold one of the actual relay torches and meeting some Paralympic atheletes makes it feel so much more close to home.
All clothing featured in this is in fact avalible for purchase at the vancouver 2010 online store as well as HBC branches. I does make me slightly sad however, that they didn't release the canada sweaters earlier back when I was sketching. At that time, there was absolutely no selection of yellow items, so apologies for the slightly inconsistant sceme going.
And yes, to answer your question, I own about $100 dollars worth of 2010 merchaindise myself. A hoodie, two plushies, and I'm planning on buying the canada scarf this winter.
Please please please I would love to get some critiques on this. I know I rarely if ever beg for them, but I really want to see if my MSPaint skills are going anywhere
See you guys in 2010

this makes me so fricking happy. why oh why are you so spirited? xD
fun idea, great texturing~
mm, i'd say just consider your light source? like, location, intensity, angle, relation to the surfaces it hits...right now it's sort of like your foreground subjects (lovely as they are) are in a lighting that completely surrounds them, with few shadows. although i suppose it depends on what effect you're going for (like an overcast day vs a sunny day), also keep in mind shadows cast by things like the arms, clothing, and hair/heads. you could play with things like extending and darkening shaded areas, as that can add depth and dimension.
i want me some official merchandise now, dangit. hope i was of some help i really do admire your dedication to this~

Your utilization of MSPaint is excellent. However, in the context of this composition, it feels somewhat two-dimensional; the characters appear superimposed. Some added shadows and a clearer understanding of light direction should help. Also noteworthy is the camera's focus, which has kept the Inukshuk sharp like the rest of the background, but the characters' outlines look fuzzy for some reason.

=____= as soon as this was posted for 2 hours, I realised that it looked like that. I was just so happy to be rid of colouring humans.
hopefully it looks better now with a fixed background.

Critique, critique, critique. *drums fingers on desk* Uuum. The difference between the main picture and the background is a little jarring. Especially since I don't think the lighting matches. Shadows look a little deeper in the picture, but I can't really tell except for on the bush. On the other hand it's cool in a heck yeah my drawings came to life kinda way.
On that same note, I think it's the photo's fault being a background and all but the colours look a little too...Pastel?
Uuum. Middle guy's hair looks a bit too froofy for being under a hat.
Yeah that's about it. I don't really know what you're going for so I can't really comment. XD
'Tis an awesome picture though. Cripes you put a heck of a lot of detail into this for an MSPainter. Truly, you are awesome for so many reasons.
On another note, I don't see how critique tells you if you've improved. Just take your oldest piece of work and your newest piece of work and compare. And voila! Cringeworthy comparisons! Trust me, I've tried that with my writing. It makes you feel both thrilled that you've progressed, but also shocked that you made anything that horrible. XD

I was so lazy after completing the humans I had no energy for a background at the time.
xD oops I just like floofy hair. I'll try sorting that out in the future then thanks. I think I'll do that
