painting nose from this perspective has been my weakness, so i am doing a study on it.

i am also doing some study on 'subtlety in lightning', i had heard 2 great artists stressing its importance. colors need to change slowly and we as artists often tend to exaggerate it, making our artwork not as good as it should be.

the two artists were Bobby Chiu and Anthony Jones. based on what they said, i went ahead to try this 'subtlety in color' out. and i guess it worked.

before this, my paintings will look highly contrasted even without adding shadows
for this piece, it will only look contrasted when i put in shadow.

P/S: buy my DLC, it includes layers of: the face, hair, red tones and some paintovers.
