Description My entry for the contest. Took me several weeks, probably 50+ hours to complete but IT'S DONE.

And not a moment too soon!

An old alpha reasserts his dominance over an uppity, young omega.

And I can't believe I completely forgot to give credit to for her awesome fur tutorials and brushes. <333

EDIT: So I think I'm having some trouble with this piece. It looks fine on my Cintiq but when I look at it on my laptop and netbook screens it looks slightly more washed out with certain areas looking darker (such as the Alpha's left foot). I've had some people say it's too dark and others that it looks fine so if you all could please tell me how it looks to you, whether it's kinda like how I described it above or if it's fine, that would be great. Thank you.

Now that's a cool piece, Cassandra. Congratulations! Nice male fight (I assume they're both males)... although it looks more like a slaughter than a proper fight. Good job! I have a question, though. I noticed that omega's eyes (probably both) are green, while alpha's right eye is yellow. I also noticed alpha's claw marks all over his face. So my question is: did alpha's right eye turned yellow after a fight or a claw strike or something OR are both of his eyes naturally yellow?

P.S:Sorry for my writing mistakes.

I love this depiction of pack politics. The detail in the fur and grass is lovely, as are those snarly teeth. I love the way the wolves in the background are silvered by the moonlight, too. I think perhaps the silvering is a little strong compared to the highlighting on the wolves in the foreground. You're probably already aware of that, given that this is two years old, though. Still a lovely job done.

Thank you. I haven't looked at this picture in a while and now that you mention it, yeah, the silvering is a bit too strong. XD

I'm technically in my sixth year of art school, but I've only got two more classes before I can graduate. (had some trouble with the university offering the classes I needed at the time I needed them. >.<) Congratulations on making it to second year, though. I'm envious of anyone who can animate. I just don't have the knack for it.

thank you! I believe you will graduate, I see how nice you work with color and shade, I think you know very well how it works (I envy you because I'm not very good with the shading and light like you, it always looks normal, but yours look like a masterpiece!)

it better! six years is long time, I hope after four years of learning, I will be able to make real animations! what will your job be when you finish school?

At this point, I don't know. ;-; Where ever I can find work, I guess. I'm going to put in some portfolios to various places; Wizards of the Coast and Games Workshop and other such companies. I'm also hoping to do some design work for some video games, but considering my chances of getting in with one of the bigger companies, I'm going to see if I can hook up with some small, independant operations or otherwise start my own projects. Other than that, probably just go freelance and see about getting some work published, such as comics or this novel I've been working on for the past two years.

So basically, I plan on starving for the next ten or so years.

Wow really good. The smaller one must have been crazy to fight the big Alpha! Anyway it fine on the laptop screen so don't worry! LOL

TeknicolorTiger In reply to LinkandEpona [2011-11-16 08:08:57 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. I imagine he probably said something that seemed like he was being too familiar with the Alpha and he took it as a challenge. Or something. lol But thank you!

SilverWerewolf09 [2011-11-12 16:32:46 +0000 UTC]

You would think with the difference in size, the Omega wouldn't pick a fight with this guy.

Nice job on the fur and detailing of the background.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TeknicolorTiger In reply to SilverWerewolf09 [2011-11-12 20:41:53 +0000 UTC]

I would say most likely he made the mistake of becoming too familiar with the Alpha and assumed he could get away with saying/doing certain things, or was testing the waters. Unfortunately for him, the Alpha has a bit of a quick-temper. lol

Thank you very much. <3

I've seen that picture a loooong time ago. It must be an unconscious influence. >_<

And forgive me while I fangirl. I've loved your art for YEARS and I'm overjoyed that you would take the time to comment on one of my pictures! Thank you so much! <333

No worries... it'd been awhile since I'd seen goldie's art as well... i think our artist's brains unconsciously store images and influence us whether we mean them to or not. I've certainly had it happen to me...
And you're quite welcome for the comment I was having fun looking over all the wwc contest art... do think yours was one of the better ones. ^^

TeknicolorTiger In reply to Novawuff [2011-09-30 07:01:22 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I definitely agree. XD But I've never noticed it in any of your pieces.

And I'm honored that you feel that way. Thank you! X3 I've been anxiously comparing mine to the other entries and keeping my fingers crossed. lol I'm hoping that the image looks to everyone else like it does on my Cintiq as I've noticed some differences when I look at the image on other screens. o_< I would think it would be too late to correct it though.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Novawuff In reply to TeknicolorTiger [2011-09-30 20:49:50 +0000 UTC]

I'm sure the problem isn't unique to you and your cintiq... since everyone's monitors are different, and set at different color/brightness settings... even resolutions.. your picture is gonna look a little bit different to other folks, no matter what. Getting stuff printed is the same.. I've had stuff look great on screen and turn out way too dark or light in a print.. also had stuff look good on screen, then turn out waaaay better as a print. There's so many variables.. one of the cons of digital art, I guess.
All that to say you shouldn't worry yourself over it, cause it happens to everyone, and there's not much you can do to help it.

TeknicolorTiger In reply to Novawuff [2011-10-01 00:12:19 +0000 UTC]

Oh I realize that, but I just haven't had that much of a problem with it until recently. :3 Or at least I hadn't really noticed it until I started working on my Cintiq. I'm not going to worry about it now, however, but I'll probably be checking the colors and stuff on different monitors in the future, at least before I submit it to a contest or something. Thank you for the advice though. ^-^

he's not going to kill the poor thing is he? anyway, the picture is stunning, I love the minute detail in the shadows behind them, and they look so much more like werewolves than other so called werewolves. Beautifully done, you can actually see the rage in the alpha's expression, and the terror in the omega's eyes. Wonderful!
