Hayden has become my guinea pig for all kinds of things recently. I got so frustrated that not only could I not seem to write him how I wanted to write him, I could hardly draw him. Of course, I could barely draw people...So I've been drawing him a lot. And I've been RPing him on , which has helped me greatly.I now use him in my own werewolf-centric group, . Moontouched was a good group but I felt I needed something different. C:
He's a very expressive character, and this is only a small handful of expressions I wanted to draw but I should really get on to other things. Even though these are just doodles, because I'm not used to drawing people, each of them probably took me from ten minutes to an hour. Luckily, the last two ('Trolface' Hayden and 'O fuk fire' Hayden) took me, roughly five minutes each.
Now I should really get on to important things...>.<

OMFG!!!!! I just LOLed so damn F*ah*hing hard that my ribcage and nostrils hurt! XD XD XD XD Hahe... hoo, ow. Hm -_-
I know this exact same feeling, going through the same thing with my character. I felt great on how I did him in Were form, but then when I started on the 'less fun, non fluffy' form, I just felt like I was suddenly retard for not being able to draw him right. It was like all the time I'd felt I was improving, I was just absolutely failing at something else, that I'd just skipped over something Important that I'd considered trivial. Damn, Mr. Juszli was right!!!! >x< I know NOTHING!!!!

I definitely think I've improved in drawing humans, but it still takes me far longer to complete a single sketch of a portrait than it should. >.< I seemed to have become sensitive to line placement, because if even one is off, it doesn't look like the person. Even here, some of the expressions feel as though they change his face a bit too much and he looks like someone else. At least to me. lol

Gah! I know exactly what you mean!
I've drawn some 8 different 'expressions' for Seiberling and I think only 2 actually -look- like him.
*FaceDesk and grumbles*
Hopefully I'll gain some uniformity, get the different expressions to look at least a little more similar, less 'Oh god, why did I make his nose so huge' or 'what the hell is wrong with that eye!!?' 'Dear god, I draw people like Picasso!'

Well I've been using a combination of anatomy reference books and models. For Hayden in particular, I've been referencing Jude Law a lot because they look (and sound) a lot alike.

Yeah, I'm trying to look over references, got some books from the Library, just keep glaring down at the paper of my sketch book till I get it right. Lol, mom says I can look so angry when I draw haha.

lol I probably look crazy. I go cross-eyed trying to get things to look right in Photoshop. I swear I look like I'm piecing together a jigsaw puzzle sometimes because I keep moving parts around. XD But it's great that you're using references and such. I see so many artists whining about how much they suck and then when you tell them to use references they're like "Nuuuu, it's my styyyyle". >.<

I love how expressive this guys is with his eyebrows!xD His 'smug' and 'fire' expressions made me laugh, they're great.
