Description Dr. Maitland, in his previous life as a perfectly respectable gentleman, before joining up with Rian and her awesome band of brigands.

It's come to my attention that apparently a few of you internet ladies are fairly fond of Dalton. So I've been doing several pictures of him lately, and I just happened to finish this pointlessness first. SOMEONE suggested I should do him with a high collar *cough*firstfruits cough*, so here we go. You do indeed control my artings, but I wouldn't have done it if I didn't already want to... Hope this does it for you. At least until I do the next one. ^_^

That's because Dr. Maitland is made out of delicious. At least, I think so. He definitely is in my head, I do hope I've managed to get that in my artwork.

Thanks so much on the outfits compliment! I love doing weird history-inspired fantasy outfits, so that means a lot.

... It's one of my OC in role-playing on forum. I did not draw him a lot... but I've made a header of website with other drawings by other DA people = [link] and his expressions = [link] (normally he had glasses )

Surprisingly, the one I've never forgotten is the little bird on Rian's shoulder. When I first designed her, she didn't originally have it, but I gave it to her later on, so I'm kind of amazed that I haven't left it off yet

Maybe it's easier when the characteristic is actually part of the character's body and not something that can be removed. I forget Rian's big necklace all the time.

Although (and this one's really terrible) when I first started drawing Farael all the time, I kept forgetting his stupid wings. Absolutely no excuse for that -_-

Ah well, things happen. Let's just claim it was an alternate version of himself living in another universe where wings don't happen. Or his doppelganger.
*has a character with dragon ears that she tends to accidentally draw with real ears quite often* >.> So again...I understand. (don't worry guys, we love you despite our inability to remember you properly some days!)

I'm sure he can still manage it when he wants to. I think I decided a while back that blue was rather "his" color. I don't know if you've ever read the Kushiel's Legacy series by Jacqueline Carey... when I was designing Dalton initially, I'd just read one of those, and there's a family of characters in those books, the Shahrizai clan, that are all gorgeous-pale with blue-black hair. Clearly that got lodged in my brain pretty well, but it's a damn good look!

I haven't read those books - but it's great they helped you get inspiration! Black and blue (or blue-black) is a pretty ace combination.

I kind of hear that, actually. I love going back and reading all my childhood favorites... the Prydain chronicles, the Tortall books, the Darkangel trilogy, the Old Kingdom trilogy... man, YA fantasy is where it's at!

Hehe! I'm glad you like it (seeing as I did it just for youuu... )! I FINALLY managed to find the default round brush on my PS (I rearranged my brush library a while back, and buried those near the end) and I was reaping the benefits of using the opacity-to-pen-pressure with the default fuzzy brushes. Which is why everything looks so glowy...

And you know, I'm not sure what that coat thing is called either. I can look it up later, but I'm not at home, so I don't have my many historical clothing reference books. I'm sure there's a proper term somewhere

HA! My boss is on his lunch break so I did some Google-fu. It's called an inverness cape coat. Apparently Sherlock Holmes wore them a lot. Go figure that, I had no idea when I drew it. Sure is nice, though...

Very nice. the jacket. I am always so very impressed at how you can make such feminine men, and yet they are still obviously men. You would think that the lovely wavy hair, the dangling earring, the delicate features, would all add up to make it very hard to tell if the figure is male or female, but no - despite all the feminine characteristics, your men are undoubtedly men. It is a very impressive feat in my book.

Wow. That's a hell of a compliment! I always thought they looked a little too ambiguous. My mom thought one of my pictures of Trean was a transgendered guy. Thanks a lot! I definitely try quite hard to make my guys look like, well, guys... just really pretty ones.
