Description Good and evil -
And their merits -
Men have argued through history,
As well they should;
My philosophy
Any child can see -
"Good is evil -
And therefore
All evil is good."
~"Good'n'Evil", from Jekyll & Hyde: the Musical

Today I just needed some unprompted, out-of-the-blue Malachi shirtless action, hence this VERY quick ridiculousness. Apparently I'm digging this windswept-profile-on-textures look.
As a side note-- considering the looseness of that rope and the, um... lowness of the waistline on those pants, I'm not 100% certain how they're keeping him decent. I blame magic modesty fairies.

Pencil and PS. Textures by `Princess-of-Shadows and ~ewark , brush by ~redheadstock .

Hehe! Yes, it's been a little while since we saw a full-size Malachi (the chibi I drew for Chen doesn't count, I think ). I missed him too, he's always fun to draw except when he decides not to cooperate! Glad you like it.

Um... the FFC?

As for good and evil, alignments are relative. Unless someone is evil, in which case I'm good and the guy who keeps me from starting a fight is the neutral one...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

temiel In reply to Sighter [2010-02-25 12:00:22 +0000 UTC]

That seems likely.

And yeah, alignments are totally relative, I just needed a title. Of course, if you're going by TV ethics, the guy who keeps you from starting the fight is good too, because the evil one always has to be the first aggressor, or else "YOU'RE AS BAD AS THE BAD GUY!" (So made-up. )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sighter In reply to temiel [2010-02-26 08:43:26 +0000 UTC]

Yeaaah. I usually prefer games without them, anyway. The newWoD of darkness has a neat mechanic that isn't really about alignments... yet it kinda functions in a similar way.

As for TV ethics, it depends on what TV you watch. I loved some shows where the question of good and evil is blurred or nonexistent. Everyone is their own hero.

temiel In reply to Sighter [2010-02-26 12:10:25 +0000 UTC]

Ah, me too. I'm a huge fan of ambiguous morality (we kind of gave up using game alignments a while ago, at least for any practical purpose). As far as TV goes... yes, that's a little fluid (most HBO and Showtime shows I've seen are pretty good about it), but you watch almost any network TV show you're EVENTUALLY going to find some variation of "I'm obviously evil but if you're aggressive against me you're TOTALLY JUST AS BAD!" Lost, while being fairly progressive in this regard, has definitely pulled that at least once.

Sighter In reply to temiel [2010-02-28 05:02:38 +0000 UTC]

I couldn't keep up with Lost...

I loved the end of Dollhouse, though. It really twisted the knife when it came to 'good' and 'evil'. I suspect that might be why it got canceled. Of course, most Whedon shows do get to that grayish morality. Same thing happened with BSG too.

You know, I think I might hate mainstream TV. I wonder what you'd call that...

Anti-Mainstream TV-ist?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

temiel In reply to Sighter [2010-02-28 13:17:08 +0000 UTC]

Lost is very frustrating sometimes (hell, I almost gave up after the rash of crap that was the first few episodes of the third season), but the last couple seasons have been pure TV gold, and I keep getting the sense that we're about to see TREMENDOUS payoff for the constant blue-balling of the audience. I have no idea how far into the series you watched, but it's gotten REALLY weird, with island ghosts and epic rule-bound struggle between mysterious entities and time travel and all sorts of strangeness, so if you ever get so inclined to watch the whole big bastard out I think you might possibly like it.

On the flip side (after pontificating about Lost for way too long), I HATE Joss Whedon. It's obnoxious because I LOVE the themes he deals with, I don't even mind his character concepts most of the time, but his writing... Everything has to be snappy dialogue all the time, EVERY character is whipping off cutesy one-liners... it's like he doesn't know how to make a character NOT a Joss Whedon mouthpiece.

HAHAAA, so you've just gotten the Lost-love AND the Joss Whedon-rant in one comment. God, I'm sorry, I'm sure I'm ridiculously tiresome with my OPINIONS ABOUT TELEVISION.

(One I suspect we might agree on, though... have you ever seen Carnivale?)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sighter In reply to temiel [2010-03-01 08:22:36 +0000 UTC]

Carnivale is one of those I'm planning to watch, one of these days.

Um... I kinda like Whedon for his dialogue and one-liners, when he's involved with writing. Ahem.

Anyway, yeaaah. Carnivale is on my list. I kinda got pointed its way a while back.

However, have you seen Neverwhere?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

temiel In reply to Sighter [2010-03-01 11:54:23 +0000 UTC]

No, I haven't... I've been kicking around the idea of seeing it, since I tend to enjoy stuff that Neil Gaiman's involved in (although I think his novels are his weakest work, incidentally, he's much stronger in a more restrictive format like short stories and comics). I haven't heard too much about Neverwhere, but what I DO hear tends to be pretty good so one of these days I'm bound to check it out.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sighter In reply to temiel [2010-03-02 11:58:27 +0000 UTC]

Neverwhere was interesting... in a sorta odd urban fantasy way. Plus it was british, so I kinda got suckered in by it.

Hmm. I stick like Gaiman's work, despite the format, because he can manage to put a twist in that I can't see coming. Same is true for Whedon. Both entertain me because they can misdirect me just enough to surpise the bajeebus outta me.

When all else fails, go with windswept! YEAH!

He's certainly a strapping brute, isnt he? I enjoy looking at him, and if I manage to tear my eyes away from his fine torso, I can enjoy his awesome profile. You seem to understand the dynamics of Profile and the proportions of the face extremly well (I always have a hell of a time with profiles... )

Mph, thank youuuuu!! Yeah, profiles can be REALLY hard-- it took me a very long time to figure out how to do them without making the face look all distorted and weird. I'm very glad you approve of the overall effect.

Can you at least give me a hint if it should be
- romantic
- melancholic
- emotional
- silly
- dramatic
- fighty
- sexy
?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

temiel In reply to Isuna [2010-02-25 12:03:22 +0000 UTC]

OH MY... I'm fond of almost all of those (except it's REALLY hard drawing Farael being silly... I've tried, and he only does it grudgingly, the boy is too serious for his own good ). I'm always fond of dramatic, sexy, and melancholic/romantic. Hope that helps!

Isuna In reply to temiel [2010-02-25 12:26:24 +0000 UTC]

*grin* Well... I'll come up with something nice for you I think. ^.^
Can you tell me a prefered couple of yours? I doesn't have to be a real relationship, it can also be sort of hate-love or just friendship. I'd just prefer to draw two characters. ^.^ Need some improvement in this.

Or do you prefer a single-sexy Farael? ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

temiel In reply to Isuna [2010-02-25 12:36:27 +0000 UTC]

Hmm. Well, Rian with ANYONE makes a decent couple because she's been with half the cast (at least, the attractive ones... >_<), and she and Farael are in love-love. Farael and Pirossa sorta-kinda hate each other but not really; they did fight each other when Pirossa almost tricked Rian into marrying him, but they're not exactly enemies per se. I've often wanted to see Farael and Malachi in the same picture together, for what it's worth... they're DEFINITELY not friends. While they're not openly trying to kill each other at this particular point in time, they certainly don't have any love for each other whatsoever. I imagine he'd come to Rian and Farael's wedding, but only because Malachi and Rian tend to get along in a hate-love kind of way. Finally, Trean is Farael's mother, so that's another possibility.

I don't know if any of that is remotely helpful. I hope it is!
