Nes is so heartbroken... and it's not just because he lost... he think he let his dad down... 
That's a relief, though, that Irwin shows that he still loves his son. Though it's highly ironic, what Irwin says: "I'm sorry I wasn't here for you." Technically, Irwin *was* there, he just showed up late... and it was because of him that Nes got distracted. Of course, nobody could have predicted that would happen; there really isn't anybody to blame.Β
I must say I'm impressed with how you aged Irwin. He's got wrinkles/bags under his eyes, he's a trifle bit fatter, and slightly more stooped - though that last detail could be that he's leaning forward to embrace his son. Not only that, but this panel of them hugging is such a sharp contrast from the picture of Nes as a child:Β
Young Irwin stood tall and proud, his boy jubilant and proud, the background yellow and sparkling. Now older Irwin is slightly stooped and comforting, Nes is crumbled, shamed and sobbing, and the background is drenched in blue.Β
Now the question is... what next? Will Nes give up? Supposedly, Irwin never lost a fight, so will Nes not even try, now that he couldn't possibly live up his father's standards? Or will he continue? Will he come to realize he isn't his father, but his own self, and he needs to lead his own life, make his own legacy? And what of Shadow? We were given hints that he isn't really a jerk, that he was really putting on a show... though the line, "You hate losing, right?" makes me wonder how sincere he was being...
At the very least, you've got me wondering, not to mention second-guessing. At first, I thought this comic was going to be all about the fight, but now I'm starting to think that something else is going to happen...

I can relate so much.
For example, due to a failure of communication between me and my dad, I did have anything for my mom's Birthday this year. I was so distraught that I couldn't focus on my job, but my mom managed to help salvage my situation by driving me to the mall so I could pick up what I intended. I felt quite better after that...
Long story short, be it your mother or your father, you can always bank on one of them being there for you when you need comfort...
