And we're back! I'm sorry it took so long to get a new page out. I was planning to start doing this again over a month ago, but as most of you guys know, I had some IRL issues come up that made it difficult to do quality work, and I didn't want to make these pages if they were going to be rushed or sub-par.
Pages likely won't be coming out every week for now. I need to focus a little more on commission work. I might be able to do a page in a week if it's a simple one, but most won't be since they can take me up to 2.5 days to complete.

Oh darn! I really wanted to leave this big comment on the end of Act 1 before you updated, but life got in the way. Oh well. I'll settle for just posting more regular comments for now.Β
Hm, I wonder how long this takes place after the fight. It's still winter, yet Nestle's face isn't all bruised up like I imagine it would be - especially after a blow like that!Β
It is nice to get some confirmation that Shadow really was a nice guy all along, that he wasn't just saying that to trick Nestle. I must say, though, you're still keeping me on my toes about where this story will go: will Nes want to know why he didn't get the letter, or is he going to confront his mother over the truth about his father? Of course, Nes might ask about both these things, but I learned the hard way not to try and get ahead of you. You'll reveal everything in good time.

Nope, while I was making this I thought that it would very easy to put whatever you wanted onto that piece of paper. And a friend even did do that. xD He put "GET GUD" on it, lol.

So this letter was what caused that sudden change of stance...
Not to mention this explains exactly what Nes meant about Shadow calling him little runt...

After - Shadow mentions towards the end of the fight, on page 19, "I guess your coach didn't pass along my message." This is the message he was talking about.

Seeing a fellow classmate who not only had a loving father but one who was a famous champion in a sport you admire, when in turn you had no father for reason of paternal abandonment [i.e. didn't love you] it is totally understandable why Shadow took it out on Nes. While it is still wrong to bully no matter what the reason might be, you can't help but sympathize with Shadow nonetheless.

I feel for Ness on this one, though I mentioned my opinion on another platform about this strip, it's still something I feel stuck in the middle.
I get the idea that "life is all about forgiveness" or "people should always be forgiven" but given personal experiences, it's hard for me to do that sometimes.
Yes, I believe people should be forgiven but that doesn't excuse the deed that was done that either causes pain or suffering to the person in question or those related to said person.
In this case, the pain that Ness feels towards Shadow.
With that being said I'm practically trying to been mindfull about the idea while at the same time trying to not be biased due to past experiences with bullying and one simple act that broke me deeply.
All accept that one event I was able to move on, but never once received an apology in any way, shape or form. I guess in that sense I wish I was Ness. Maybe one day I'll talk about my experiences but I don't think I'm ready to tell them yet.
Regardless, I'm really enjoying the comic and I'm looking forward to seeing more of them in the future.
