***DOWNLOAD FOR FULL RESOLUTION SIZE***This guy is a character from a story project I've been working on.
He's a recently created character, so he doesn't have a given name yet. He's meant to be an authority figure, which is why I dressed him in some royal colors. 
I wanted to experiment with a quicker coloring style with this one, something I can gain atmosphere and accuracy with, without slaving over values and hues for hours and hours. Coloring this all took me about two hours. I think if I had more practice I could cut that in half.
Other minor things I wanted to try is be less strict with myself and more loose with the design, as well as more parallels.Hope you all like this guy, and this style. Cheers!

Have I mentioned how wonderful epic this fellow is? He really is. And I think you did a grand job not only with the coloring, but also with your color choices. The color of the outfit really offsets the fur and the background really completes the effect.
That and the to-the-point pose mixed with the expression is super effect. Hope you play with this guy again at some point.

So I'm guessing the generals wear longer kilts?
The lineart/coloring of this piece looks slightly different than previous pieces.

The inking is similar to past cell shaded pieces, but it's different than my realism, as they have no lineart whatsoever. The coloring is the same method, except the lighting was done with a simple "overlay" layer mode.

Very nice. I like his costume. You might wanna try and do a bit more to differentiate him from Tem. The earrring was a nice touch.

Sure enough, everybody would like to work faster, specially me. The colouring is convincing (in fact, I like it!) but there is something that bugs me... I think it's the upper part of the torso. There... something doesn't fit there, the right shoulder maybe? Or my eyes are cross, I don't know.
I suggest a purple colour to go with the red, as it has been associated with emperors for a long time, to make him look grander.

Actually the torso looks pretty good to me. Maybe it's because it looks off balance compared to way the legs are? (with what Kobb brought up)

What Kobb said makes more sense, now that I look at it that way. There is something strange, I just didn't know what it was exactly. I though it was the torso... (and then I went to look up in a dictionary and "torso" is not what I though it was; sorry, English is my second language).

He really gives off a royal feel and "I know what I'm doing" feel at the same time! And for some reason, I can see a big bonfire off to his right. Lastly, and this may be kinda nit picking here, but where's the sword missing from the scabbard on his back? Doesn't really matter, it's a great picture. I really like the background as well.

As for the thing on his back, I originally meant it as a possible place for arrows, although with it not being very round, I can understand how it'd look better for what you mentioned. An extra, larger sword there would have looked rather nifty I think!

He certainly looks like a bruiser - not a guy you'd cross! That part was certainly successful, and the earring is a nice touch.
I like where this coloring style is going, too - more of a cartoony type style, but still painterly. I'd advise maybe a little more contrast between lights and shadows - brighter lights, probably - but doing all that realistic lighting and the quick photo studies means your understanding of light/color is pretty sound. Nice work!
As for the pose - guy seems to be a bit off-balance. I'd like to see his left leg (our right) shifted over (about to under his left shoulder?) to square off his stance a bit.

I was worried about the leg myself, and had another friend point it out to me. I was reluctant to change it as I had finished coloring. At first I wanted him to have it crossed over his other, but I guess with the way things turned out, he does look unbalanced. I appreciate the tip of squaring it off with his shoulder. I never really made that connection myself but it does make sense.

Mainly the outfit, the swords a bit too curved (now that I look at it) for it to be a katana, but still resembles one.

Did you try the name "Yung?" I know it sounds Japanese or something, but it's the name of an otter I used in a failed fanfic. He looks worthy of carrying that name, though...
