Long-lived Magikarp are able to utilize their immense splashing power to leap high enough to jump mountains...Those who know me for a while know that I absolutely adore Magikarp. They're completely useless, but with lots of patience and perseverance, evolve into Gyarados, a powerful pokemon that can not only inflict powerful attacks, but fly as well (at least in the anime!)
This piece was inspired by the highly iconic painting, The Great Wave off Kanagawa. It was a lot of fun doing this piece, from my first sketches to the final touches. If anyone is interested, I have a few WIP shots on my website .

THIS TURNED OUT SLICK, SON. Seriously, all your hard work really paid off! I love how clean and well presented everything is. I was curious to see if you were going to leave the colors as bright as they were in the WIPs, and now that I see the end result, I really enjoy the more subdued tones. It's really lovely.
