Description
Magikarp are seen as one of the most useless pokemon known, and have no use in battle than as a distraction. Unable to learn even the most basic moves it simply splashes around limply. It was once called to be de-classified as a pokemon but was overruled due to its evolution, Gyarados, one of the most powerful dragon/water type pokemon known.
High level Magikarp are searched for in hopes to evolve them quickly. They are occasionally farmed for this purpose.
Humans occasionally eat them however they are a very gristly fish and are full of bones, this is due to the fact it goes through such a large transformation when it evolves.
Saying all of this Magikarp are extremely resilient and have been found in both salt and fresh water and even some found near underwater volcanos.

Even Magikarp looks cool in your style! Maybe it's because it doesn't have that derp face.

Are there both common animals and PokΓ©mon in your "PokΓ©mon Evo" canon?

yes, but they are differnt to the animals in our world, similar but different, the pokemon that are based on the animals in our world replace ours if that makes sense

Gyarados is a Water/Flying type. the idea is that he's a Pseudo-Dragon. thus he doesn't get the type.

Ah, yes, one more thing (and sorry for adding another comment to this): Magikarp do learn the move Tackle at around level 15, I think.

Interesting that a creature could be classified or de-classified as a Pokemon. Would it then just be an animal? Wonderful work as always!

yes, technically...pokemon (in evo) are determined by their natural heal rates and abilities... pokemon can regenerate far faster than normal animals and are also aided by machines... meaning you can legally battle with them as they are far more resilient to harm

Before I got my Pokemon Blue,Red and Yellow,I always thought Gyarados could fly, because in one of the Pokemon Short Movies,a Gyarados was flying RIGHT UP a waterfall. Though it could have been using waterfall....
If Gyarados was Water/Dragon instead of Water/Flying,we would have a prototype-Palkia by R/G/B/Y. Shame they let Dragonite take all the glory. D:

I'd say, that the reason Gyarados is Water/Flying and not Water/Dragon, is that in the first games, it'd be the next most broken thing after Mewtwo and Mew; as it'd effectively have no weakness (Dragon only had fixed damage Dragon Rage), and that, coupled with good stats (in the first games it could use Special attacks with good effect), and a massive movepool, well, that. Good thing it goes down with an electric move, otherwise, it'd be broken.
Also, based on the legend of the carp that leapt over an waterfall and became a dragon. And you can attribute the flying type to that, oriental dragons pretty much fly without wings or anything. Then there is the whole deal with Bounce being a flying move and Magikarp getting it, old Magikaps leaping over mountains, and Gyarados being able to also move in land ala snake...
And I like how this turned out, in any case!
(I like these 2 guys, that's why I went on and rambled like that, sorry! )

no problem, i totally get why it was made a flying type in the first game, however it had a lot of bugs in those games, and much of pokemon isnt thought about realistically, so its my job to correct that

On that note, nice work. Funny thing, according to its Platinum 'Dex entry old ones can use Splash to leap up a waterfall. Still does nothing.
Random fact: although Magikarp is pretty much useless in battle, Sunkern has a lower base stat total.
