Now I’m not one to believe everything I hear, but sometimes these old fisherman's stories have a grain of truth to them.
“It had been a particularly hot summer, and my brother and I had been out on the water for a few hours. That was when his line snagged something… something big! It took the both of us to hold onto this thing, it was so strong it began to pull our boat across the surface. Then the line suddenly softened and we assumed we were wearing it out. My brother shouted for me to get the camera as he furiously reeled in the line…We couldn’t have known. They never evolve in freshwater, we were told it was safe. I had heard the legends but no one actually believed them you know..”
He took another big sip and finished his story.
“We hadn’t worn it out. It was directly below us. It tore out of the water with such force, we were both knocked back, everything was a blur. Without warning the boat was flipped. The water was so murky and filled with bubbles, I didn’t know what was up nor down. Then I saw something move below me… it was a Gyarados, but nothing like I’d seen before. Blood red scales with algae growing on its plates and eyes that burnt into your soul. Biggest I’d ever seen.”
Reaching into his pocket he pulled out an old and crumpled photograph.
“It killed my brother. Dragged him down to his death. I just escaped with my life” He said as he slid the picture across the table.
“You see,I had my camera in my hand when it attacked. Most shots were blurry or water damaged but this one, this one shows that I’m not crazy”
I slowly turned it over to see a man looking up at a crimson Gyarados…he wasn’t crazy, this was real, the legends were true”.
