Description
It was a cold winter's night and I could hear the wind rattling the windows of the cottage. I had received a message from an old friend of mine, Jane Sonazaki, the daughter of the world famous Bill ‘Masaki’ Sonazaki, the inventor of the Pokemon transfer system. Like me, Jane studied a wide range of Pokemon but had been based in a lighthouse for a number of years, specialising in deep ocean sound data.
Jane explained that she theorised that Dragonite could have the potential to grow to extremely large sizes when in open water to help them avoid predators like Tentacruel and Gyarados. She showed me a number of recordings, some her father had made and some she had documented in the last few months, they were very similar.
Jane explained that she had cameras all around the area and had caught sight of a few Dragonite resting on the rocks but all of them were between 12ft and 14ft. She said she had something to show me. She quickly typed on her computer and a number of videos came up showing areas off the coast. She scrolled through and found some footage of a large Dragonite resting on a rock with the lighthouse in the backdrop. It looked so serene, staring up and watching the snow fall onto its orange scales. It’s still somewhat of a mystery why Dragonite looks so drastically different from its pre-evolutionary states but there are a few theories. Samuel Oak theorised that this is just a transitional stage and Dragonite is what the species is turning into, though another professor has countered his claim saying the opposite, that Dragonite is a remnant of what Dratini’s and Dragonair’s used to look like before moving into the water permanently and that Dragonite is likely to disappear, similar to what happened to tradable evolutionary line like Golem for example.
