Description This is the HMMWV from DAZ. I changed the shading in the tires, and the windows; the rest is default. Obviously higher render settings help, but it still looks pretty cg at this point. I don't know if it's the lighting, the scale, lack of a bump map, or shading (probably all three), but I need to find a way to make it better. It doesn't help that it's got about 50 seperate channels in the shader tree.

i don't think it helps that the light is from behind - it means you loose all the detail.

Also the scenario you've put it in is going to affect the CG look of it. If u get rid of those walls, play around with shadow mapping and maybe try and cut it into a photograph... maybe of a field/dirt track.

Is this DAZ 3D?

The setting is actually just one of the default scenes that comes with C5. What I'm realizing with this project is that finding references isn't always easy- so even with the internet, I'm still not sure if there really should be that purplish highlight to the body. I think it should definitely be dustier, though; especially the windows, but with a clean arc where the wipers would be swinging. And yes, it's daz3d.com.
